    Location(s): Greenvale Park, Spring Creek, Bridgewater, Middle School

    Scheduled hours/days: Up to 2 hours/day. Mon-Thurs. Hours will be approximately 3:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

    Qualifications: Be a dependable, hard-working individual who likes to work with K-5 students. Be energetic, patient, and caring. Must be able to adapt to an ever-changing environment. Must be able to work independently and on a team

    Responsibilities: Assist Site Leader and Club Leaders/Teachers with youth activities, which include: literacy skill development, making connections for social and emotional learning, leading art projects, and facilitating movement activities. Assist with science and art projects and movement activities or lead various activities for K-8 students, such as homework help, outdoor games, and assisting with daily setup and cleanup, and additional tasks as assigned. Positions are available at the Middle School, Bridgewater, Greenvale Park, and Spring Creek.

    Pay Rate/Range: $18.71/hr - $20.72/hr

    Compensation/Benefits/Perks: An employee earns one hour of sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked and can earn a maximum of 48 hours each year.

    Job Summary:

    Under the general direction of the Teacher or Club Leader, the Site Assistant assists the Teacher/Club Leader in supervising daily activities; interacting with children or youth; assisting in preparing site for daily activities; enforcing program behavioral rules and safety guidelines; and providing support to the Teacher/Club Leader in working closely with students in site projects, providing support for the homework help service, and assisting in the programming of site activities.

    Responsibilities:

    Participates and assists in the supervision of daily activities and/or events of the program.

    • Monitors behaviors and activities to ensure the safety of children or youth.

    • Monitors the behavior of children or youth to ensure compliance with behavioral guidelines, rules, and standards of the program.

    • Diffuses escalating situations between children or youth and takes appropriate actions within program rules and procedures.

    • Eliminates potential environmental hazards to safeguard children.

    • Interacts with, plays with, and talks with children or youth on a continual basis.

    • Participates with children or youth in group games.

    • Enforces all health and safety rules of the program, including sanitary rules, playground rules, and rules concerning the use of supplies and equipment.

    • Adjusts program activities and assists children with special needs, disabilities, maturation, and skills differences.

    Provides support and assists the site supervisor in various support and programming activities and projects within the program.

    • Provides support for the mentor project.

    • Provides support to children or youth in developing projects and youth service learning at the site.

    • Provides support in programming activities, field trips, activities, or other projects of the program.

    Assists students with homework and provides support to the homework help services program.
