Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Paint Lead is responsible for the performance and supervision of the paint department personnel assigned to them or project. The Lead is to ensure that all proper processes, procedures, materials and techniques are used to meet KA quality safety and regulatory standards. The work is to be performed within budget and in a timely and professional manner. The Lead position is to work directly on the project with those he supervises.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:




  1. Provides personnel work assignments as well as guides, mentors and provides on-the-job instruction or training to the assigned group in related technical information job procedures, safety and general shop and hangar practices.
  2. Assume responsibility of the quality and quantity of work produced by their assigned team (crew).
  3. Coordinate with the Paint Foreman to carry out duties in an effective and efficient manner.
  4. Must be able to identify corrosion, delamination and surface anomalies.
  5. Participate and enforce compliance with housekeeping, tool control and environmental and safety programs.
  6. Responsible for the maintenance and preventative maintenance of company tooling and equipment.
  7. Responsible for keeping paint travelers updated daily.
  8. Assist in researching and requisitioning aircraft parts and components and in determining the serviceability of parts and components in question.
  9. Paint Lead will be subject to any of these processes daily: masking, stripping, sanding, priming, painting, design work and detail.
  10. Follows technical data, manuals, regulations and KACC Paint Process Specifications.
  11. Demonstrates behavior in accordance with company policies and guidelines.
  12. Demonstrates a high level of focus on customer service and operational awareness.
  13. Perform other task as requested by the Paint Foreman.


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have in-depth knowledge of all aspects of aircraft painting. Ability to read, write and interpret technical data and special operating instructions. Good verbal and written skills and leadership ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:




  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Seven (7) or more years' experience as an "A" level painter.
  • Recent lead experience is desired
  • Experience on corporate aircraft as well as large cabin VIP aircraft.
  • Valid driver's license.



LANGUAGE ABILITY:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers.

MATH ABILITY:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Spreadsheets, Internet software, E-Mail, Order processing software.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires varied work shifts and overtime as required. Position always requires adherence to King Aerospace appearance standards.

  • Must be able to use ladders, stands, lifts, etc. and be able to work on all areas of aircraft.

  • Physical exertion: pulling, bending, pushing, reaching, standing, walking and lifting / carrying of containers, equipment, etc. not in excess of 50 pounds.
  • May work in the inside or outside of Paint hangar.
  • Ability to work various shifts which may include evening and weekend hours.
