Your Job

John Zink in Tulsa is seeking a highly motivated self-starter to join our R&D Test Facility Instrumentation and Controls team. In this role, you'll perform calibrations, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting for a variety of test and safety instrumentation, while supporting the installation of new systems for R&D testing. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements that enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a hands-on, fast-paced environment within an industry-leading test facility.


What You Will Do

  • Perform calibrations and functional checks on combustion emission analyzers, transmitters, and various test instrumentation to ensure accurate and reliable data.
  • Execute routine preventive maintenance and inspections on safety-related instrumentation to support safe and compliant operations.
  • Support the installation and setup of instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment for R&D testing, including equipment layout, wiring, and field verification of metering, control, and safety devices.
  • Diagnose and repair instrumentation and control system issues to minimize downtime and ensure testing continuity.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to develop and implement process improvements that enhance safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of calibrations, maintenance activities, and system configurations for compliance and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams to support the development and commissioning of new test systems and upgrades.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Knowledge of basic methods and techniques for electrical/instrument equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits and able to interpret electrical schematics and one-line drawings.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to become certified and work at heights up to 100 feet using aerial lifts.
  • Able to work full-time outdoors in all weather conditions while wearing full flame-resistant (FR) coveralls.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Willing and able to work 10-hour shifts, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • An electrical journeyman's license and has completed a technical school program or holds an associate's degree or higher.
  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLC Control Logix and Wonderware SCADA systems.
  • Experience calibrating and maintaining combustion analyzers and process instruments using HART communicators.
  • Skilled in electric heat trace installation, troubleshooting, and working with 480-volt electrical systems.
