CORE VALUES: Passion for Excellence :: Success is Never Final :: Do the Right Thing :: One Alerus ABOUT THE ROLE: The SVP, Business Banking -Team Lead manages and leads the Business Bankers as they enhance existing commercial business relationships and develop new commercial business opportunities. A mentor and coach to ensure Business Bankers deliver comprehensive financial advice to Alerus business clients and serve as their trusted primary point of contact. This involves leading, coordinating, and tracking the efforts of the Business Bankers as they work with a team of product subject matter experts and support staff to ensure efficient use of resources in serving our client's needs. This role will also manage their own portfolio of business relationships and generate new business opportunities. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to a team of business bankers, fostering individual performance and collaboration to achieve personal sales targets and overall team goals.
- Coach, develop, and grow a high-performing team of business bankers while actively recruiting top talent to join Alerus.
- Grow and manage Commercial & Industrial (C&I) client relationships in alignment with Alerus credit policies, while driving portfolio growth across loans, deposits, and fee income for both you and your team.
- Cultivate and strengthen productive relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients to support business growth and collaboration.
- Responsible for individual and team's credit administration, including timely resolution of ticklers, timely and accurate risk rating change identification, and accurate loan documentation packages.
- Utilize CRM software to track new opportunities and schedule follow-up communication.
- Assist clients in selecting financial products and services, serving as the primary point of contact.
- Perform regular proactive relationship reviews and evaluate clients' financial needs.
- Maintain an expert level of knowledge in financial services and stay current on industry trends.
- Pursue continuing education and self-development to enhance skills.
- Foster connections through active participation internally to build culture and bring teams together, and throughout community organizations, serving as a respected and influential leader within the market.
WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent work experience required.
- 10+ years of financial services experience.
- Demonstrated success in managing, leading, coaching, and developing high-performing sales (?) teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing a Commercial & Industrial (C&I) client portfolio, with a proven track record of growing loan and deposit balances to support overall portfolio performance and business objectives.
- Deep understanding of credit administration best practices, and a solid understanding of credit policies.
- Ability to assess client financial needs and implement appropriate financial solutions in a team-based approach.
- Experience utilizing CRM software to track and manage sales opportunities.
- Ability to present proposals and solutions to business leaders and executives.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills.
- Established interpersonal and negotiating skills.
- Advanced math proficiency.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is typically performed in an office setting. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time.
