Position Summary

Summary:

The University of New Mexico ("UNM") School
of Law invites applications for a faculty position teaching Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and related topics. This faculty position is a
full-time tenured or tenure-track position starting in Fall 2026. Experience
practicing criminal law is desirable but not required and entry-level and
experienced teachers are encouraged to apply. We seek
candidates with scholarly distinction or promise as well as a commitment to
excellence in teaching.

Offering a J.D. degree, the UNM School of Law is
nationally recognized for innovative classes that combine law practice skills
training with doctrinal instruction and a 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio. Our
faculty is one of the most ethnically and racially diverse faculties in the
country and our student body is similarly diverse.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must possess a J.D. or equivalent legal degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A record of demonstrated excellence or the promise of excellence in teaching.
  • A record of demonstrated excellence or the promise of excellence in academic scholarship.
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
