Position
Summary:

The
University of New Mexico School of Law invites applications for a full-time, tenured
or tenured-track faculty position to teach in its Legal Analysis and Communication Program, starting in
the Fall of 2026.

Faculty in the program are responsible for teaching
Elements of Legal Argumentation I & II, the law school's required
first-year legal writing sequence. ELA I & II focus on developing students'
skills in legal reading, research, analysis, and communication. The program's faculty
members typically teach two first-year sections of approximately 15-20 students
each (or 30-40 students total). They also teach upper-level writing courses,
and the successful candidate will be expected to help design and implement the
program's upper-level writing curriculum. At UNM, legal writing faculty serve
on all law school committees (including serving as chairs of committees), and
are eligible for summer research and teaching grants. The Legal Analysis and
Communication Program is a director-led program that values close collaboration
and quality teaching.

We value candidates from
diverse backgrounds and perspectives as we work toward enriching our students'
learning through inclusion and enhancing the faculty's academic mission of
research, teaching, service, and community engagement in New Mexico, the United
States, and the world. Women in the STEM disciplines, under- represented
racial and ethnic minorities, groups historically marginalized in American
life, individuals with disabilities, and those from rural origins,
first-generation college experience, and veteran status are encouraged to apply
for the opportunity to be part of a university-wide priority on
excellence-and-equity across all dimensions of the academic mission.

Offering a J.D.
degree, cross-disciplinary dual
degrees, and a Masters of Legal Studies, the UNM School of Law is nationally recognized for innovative classes that
combine law practice skills training with doctrinal instruction and a 10:1
