Position Summary

Work collaboratively as part of a team operating a pharmaceutical packaging line. Responsibilities include operating packaging equipment and performing related tasks, while maintaining accurate and concurrent documentation of all activities. A positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and reliable attendance are essential.

This position is located in a manufacturing area that handles DEA Schedule III and IV controlled substances. Synovex differential pay will be provided to colleagues working within this facility.

Hours: 3rd shift, Sunday - Thursday 10:00pm - 6:30am. Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Position Responsibilities

Record Keeping and Documentation

  • Maintain and complete accurate records, including timecards, batch records, and logbooks.

Equipment Operation

  • Operate assigned equipment such as PLC-controlled packaging lines, pellet fillers, vision systems, pouch sealers, etc.
  • Clean production equipment and facilities.
  • Set up and disassemble packaging equipment.
  • Operate specific in-process devices associated with the equipment.
  • Use material handling devices, including electric pallet jacks, manual pallet jacks, and hi-lifts.
  • Apply the metric system to process-related calculations.

SOPs / cGMP Compliance

  • Follow all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).
  • Maintain proper housekeeping standards.
  • Adhere to dress code and secondary gowning policies.

Safety

  • Practice safe manufacturing techniques, including lock-out/tag-out procedures.
  • Read and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required, including safety shoes, glasses, respirators, gloves, and hearing protection.

Decision-Making

  • Escalate questionable issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Recognize when to stop processes due to anomalies.
  • Learn to identify out-of-specification materials.

Process Knowledge

  • Understand production and process flow.
  • Know proper staging and storage locations for supplies and equipment.
  • Learn key terminology related to pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Communication

  • Communicate effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Use appropriate communication techniques to support teamwork.

Personal Computer Skills

  • Perform PC-based tasks as required.

Education and Experience

Required Job-Related Candidate Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus 6-12 months of relevant experience.
  • Language skills: able to read and interpret procedures.
  • Math skills: ability to apply general math concepts.
  • Basic mechanical understanding and experience using various hand tools.
  • Meets the physical requirements of the job.

Preferred Candidate Qualifications

  • Technical school certificate or 1-2 years of college coursework.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with vision systems and robotic fillers.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and Windows-based applications.

Physical Position Requirements

Special Facility Requirements

This position supports a manufacturing area that utilizes DEA Schedule III and IV compounds with Occupational Exposure Band (OEB) limits of 3 and 5. The role requires:

  • Compliance with secondary gowning procedures
  • Use of Powered Air-Purifying Respirators (PAPR) within the manufacturing facility
  • Ability to tolerate physical confinement for extended periods throughout the workday.

Physical Demands

  • Apply proper lifting techniques.
  • Routine lifting of 20-40 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to product dust/particulates
  • Exposure to loud noise
  • Exposure to temperature variations
  • Exposure to heights of up to 25 ft
