Principal Engineer I - QA Automation/SDET

What you'll do:

This role seeks an experienced Principal QA Automation Engineer with expertise in Playwright to lead our test automation strategy. This role will focus on implementing and building scalable, maintainable and robust enterprise test automation frameworks. Together with key product stakeholders, you will define and develop enterprise QA standards and processes, enhance quality adoption and enable end-to-end automation within CI/CD pipelines using automation tooling. The ideal candidate will ensure that all QA activities are conducted efficiently and meet audit requirements. These practices include metrics, defect management, and other quality measures. In addition, the Principal Engineer will support and mentor QA Automation engineers across the organization by providing training, best practices, and governance for application teams in their automation journey.
  • Architect and maintain a robust enterprise test automation framework using Playwright for financial services applications
  • Drive the culture of test automation across the enterprise, ensuring the implementation and integration of automated testing within the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Lead quality initiatives across the organization by mentoring engineers and promoting best practices in test automation and software quality
  • Evaluate and implement tools and technologies that enhance automation, observability and test reliability.
  • Champion the integration of quality principles across all IT processes, ensuring that high standards are maintained throughout the SDLC process.
  • Establish standards and best practices around test cases, defects, automated testing, performance testing, etc.
  • Lead the automation of backlogged testing requirements for service delivery teams, ensuring timely and efficient integration into the overall testing framework.
  • Provide consulting, leadership, guidance for all testing practices and tools across the organization.
  • Ensure efficient use of manual, automation, and performance testing tools.
  • Ensure all testing practices comply with processes, standards, and controls.
  • Handle audits and ensure that standards and controls are consistently met.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for testing processes and standards.

What you'll need:

  • 8+ years of QA/Development or related experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in API, web, and/or mobile test automation.
  • 3+ years of Playwright experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT related field required; Masters or MBA preferred.
  • Experience integrating automated testing into DevOps pipelines. Experience with Azure DevOps a plus.
  • Expert knowledge of QA processes, including functional and non-functional testing.
  • Familiar with API testing tools (Postman, Ready API, etc).
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously with an established expertise in QA automation.
  • Advanced to expert knowledge of applicable regulatory, legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices, and general knowledge of Financial Services or Banking.
  • Advanced leadership, speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
