This is a 1st Shift role, the work schedule is: Monday-Friday, 6am-2:30pm Central Time


SUMMARY


The Inventory Lead will manage and execute all functions related to the management of physical and book inventory for manufacturing and distribution areas. This position gives work direction to Material Handlers and Inventory Coordinator. This position will lead, conduct and reconcile daily cycle counts and manage the yearly physical inventory along with preparing inventory records/reports and investigating discrepancies in stock counts. The Inventory Lead is also responsible for the storage and production staging of all inventory and non-inventory parts for daily production, running SAP transactions, optimizing the warehouse operations, and coordinating recycling/waste pickups.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Plans and coordinates the work of all associates, adjusting work assignments and schedules to maintain adequate staffing levels to respond to fluctuating workloads.
  • Creates work instructions for cycle counting, physical inventory, material handling and material movement processes.
  • Provides initial orientation to new employees, assess training needs of staff and arrange or provide appropriate instruction and training.
  • Leads and counsels Material Handler employees in work related activities, personal growth, and career development.
  • Provides feedback on hourly team members to Production Supervisor for Performance Reviews.
  • Ensures accuracy of the inventory responsible for posting and managing inventory reports.
  • Conducts daily inventory audits and manages the daily cycle count procedure.
  • Plans and completes physical inventory and variance reconciliation.
  • Collaborates with Production, Purchasing and Finance departments to identify, prevent and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Accurate and timely production reporting of inventory and production movements, labor and material usage and material consumption reconciliation. Develops and implements approved inventory processes and procedures to address cost controls and prevents inventory discrepancies.
  • Performs inventory transactions, managing Inventory rules. Maintains and updates inventory system.
  • Manages the inventory staging for production.
  • Ensures compliance with quality and current good manufacturing processes (cGMP).
  • Participates and/or Leads LEAN and 6S initiatives.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook, AWAIR and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS



  • High school diploma or equivalent required plus 3 years of relevant experience; Associate degree or higher in a technical/business field preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of warehouse layout and the safe operation of material moving and handling equipment including 2-wheeler, lift truck, pallet jack, scissor lift or motorized forklift.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other similar computer software helpful.
  • Working knowledge of SAP IM and WM systems preferred.
  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret documents relating to the job, function, or assignment.
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to delegate tasks to others.
  • Must have excellent data entry skills to ensure accuracy of information entered into computer systems.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Lean and/or Six Sigma experience.
  • Cycle counting experience.
  • Physical warehouse inventory counting experience.
  • Certifications in materials management.
  • Experience leading teams of 2 or more.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to executive non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
