About the Job

The Gun Violence Prevention Clinic (the "Clinic") represents clients in litigation to advance the goals of gun violence prevention through the court system. The Clinic is seeking a casual, part-time individual to assist with external communications on behalf of the Clinic. This role requires strong written and oral communication skills, a background in communications, an ability to meet deadlines related to grant applications and reports, a commitment to support gun violence prevention, an understanding of the gun violence prevention movement, and a desire to amplify the work of a law school-based social justice clinic that centers the work of law students in advancing the goal of reducing deaths, injuries, and trauma related to gun violence.

Work Schedule:
The position will run from August to May 15, 2026, with a possibility of renewal. The Clinic anticipates the consultant's weekly hours will vary, depending on needs and grant deadlines, but are limited to 14 hours per week

Responsibilities/Duties:
* Draft communications materials to promote the work of the Clinic to potential donors, potential students, potential clients, and others who support the Clinic.- 20%
* Manage the design and production of promotional materials for the Clinic.- 5%
* Prepare reports for Clinic funders, as required by grant funding contracts. - 5%
* Provide advice on communication strategies to promote the Clinic to the public, the media, and potential donors. - 25%
* Identify grant opportunities, in consultation with and at the direction of the Clinic Director.- 5%
* Assist in the drafting and editing of grant applications and reports. - 30%
* Ensure deadlines related to grant reporting and applications are calendared, planned for, and met in each case.- 5%
* Work productively with Clinic faculty and students, the law clinic administrator, and administrative staff. - 5%

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* Experience in creating communications strategies, plans, or programs.
* Attention to detail; clear, concise writing
* Ability to work independently and proactively propose work in the service of the Gun Violence Prevention Clinic aims
* Strong communication and time management skills to work with internal teams on priorities and progress within the 10-14 hour allotted time commitment.

Preferred Qualifications
* Familiarity with Gun Violence Prevention audiences - communities connected to higher education, law, and national gun violence prevention

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $60.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
