Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
This position entails conducting research on competitors and market trends, consulting with leadership and underwriters, and supporting training initiatives. The role also involves contributing to target profit and loss metrics through the development of guidelines and strategic initiatives. Additionally, this role will partner with underwriting teams and leadershipto facilitate training sessions and provide guidance to individuals or groups, including addressing queries from less experienced underwriters.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Conduct in-depth research on industry trends, competitor strategies, and emerging risks.
  • Understand company appetite and reinsured exposure and retention limits.
  • Analyze data to identify opportunities and threats relevant to underwriting practices.
  • Present findings to leadership and underwriting teams to inform strategic decisions.
  • Responsible for contributing to target profit and loss metrics for the department and company.
  • Collaborate with underwriting leadership and individual underwriters to shape underwriting strategies.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting guidelines and best practices.
  • Recommends pricing decisions in line with retention objectives and actively interacts with internal and external customers to enhance the business relationship and improve retention ratios.
  • Collaborate withthe training team to design and deliver training sessions for individuals and groups across multiple departments.
  • Collaborate with the training team to develop educational materials and resources to support continuous learning
  • Provides product knowledge transfer to Agents and Underwriters and assists Agents and field management on changes in guidelines and processes via teleconference, webinar, and in-person presentations.
  • Independently leads and coordinates projects outside normal job duties which frequently involves working with others within and outside the department.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree.

  • Eight to 10 years of experience.

  • Supervisory/management experience not applicable.

  • Experience mentoring or coaching lower-level underwriters.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Equivalent experience considered in place of collegiate studies.

  • Applicable designation strongly preferred, or progress towards.

OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The position requires ability to effectively communicate with others to exchange information.

  • A person in this position exercises wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments.

  • The position requires physical presence in company office on part-time or full-time basis.

  • No adverse working or environmental conditions expected.

  • This position is an Individual Contributor.
