POSITION SUMMARY: The Pharmacist Specialist for IT Systems will provide expertise in the functional support, design, instruction, oversight and guidance of applications that provide medication dosing, dispensing, inventory or clinical decision support functions. Utilizing their knowledge of patient care and technology, the Pharmacist Specialist will promote efficiency in clinical workflows, implement best practices, and ensure data driven analysis is available to clinical and operational leadership.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for medication build and maintenance in the Epic Willow application
- Prepare documentation as needed for the implementation of enhancements or new technology
- Perform quality control and testing to ensure that solutions are technically sound
- Provide clinical and pharmacy expertise including pharmacy law for the development of build and testing standards
- Maintain focus on patient safety when analyzing system configuration and enhancements
- Has a clear understanding task and deliverable dependencies; prioritizes and sequences work accordingly.
- Analyze, plan and execute on new functionality in system releases to identify impact and opportunities.
- Develops and fosters relationships with business stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- BA/BS degree or equivalent.
- Licensed Pharmacist.
- 4+ years of clinical or pharmacy experience.
- 3+ years of experience with electronic health record systems, preferred (Epic Systems strongly preferred)
- One or more certification of Epic modules, preferred (Epic Willow strongly preferred).
- Experience with workflow and operations within a hospital or health system, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to participate in after-hours on-call rotation for system support.
- Ability to travel up to 25% percent.
- Basic project management skills (ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, maintain issues list, manage project plan, preferred.
- Understanding of healthcare policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements, preferred.
