At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Job Description

Job Summary

The Manager, Facilities is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and performance of all WGU facilities, ensuring they support a safe, efficient, and effective work environment. This role provides leadership to facilities staff and vendors, manages maintenance and repair services, and ensures compliance with safety standards and operational procedures. The Manager, Facilities supports strategic initiatives by contributing to facilities planning, budgeting, and process improvements while also promoting cost-effective solutions and high service quality. This position services as a key liaison between internal stakeholders, facilities personnel, and external service providers to deliver excellent facilities support across WGU.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages day-to-day facilities operations across all WGU sites to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality work environment that supports employee and organizational needs
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for internal service requests, vendor management, and property management communications, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues
  • Oversees the implementation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), conducting regular reviews and audits to identify and drive process improvements
  • Supports and coordinates office modifications, site maintenance projects, and space planning efforts in alignment with organizational goals and workplace policies
  • Contributes to the development and execution of annual facilities budgets, helping to monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost optimization and operational efficiencies
  • Supervises and provides direction to facilities team members and vendors in areas such as mailroom operations, meeting room setups, office moves, inventory, and campus support services.
  • Participates in facilities planning and executing space utilization strategies aligned with company growth and departmental needs
  • Assists in the coordination of construction and renovation projects, working with contractors, property managers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timelines, budgets, and quality expectations are met
  • Promotes a culture of safety and compliance by working closely with the safety and security team to implement policies and respond effectively to emergency situations
  • Gathers and analyzes feedback from staff and key stakeholders to inform continuous improvement of the facilities function and to enhance the employee experience
  • Supports onboarding and offboarding procedures related to workplace setup, access, and services for new hires and departing employees
  • Ensures that common areas, conference rooms, and shared spaces are well maintained, functional, and aligned with organizational standards
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members to promote individual growth and collective success.
  • EHS (Environment, Health, Safety) management and report within WGU sites and facilities as assigned.
  • Participates in annual Facilities/Site Maintenance strategic planning, including determination of key strategic deliverables and workforce needs
  • Coordinates with local service providers such as law enforcement, fire departments, regulatory agencies, and other governing bodies as required or requested
  • Participates in the creation, maintenance, and execution of WGU's Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan(s)
  • Executes facilities asset management and facilities inventory management through supporting WGU systems
  • Collects and reports facilities utilization and performance metrics as required by WGU operating procedures or external regulatory compliance
  • Coordinates short-term action plans and long-term roadmaps with the Facilities Security team, the Facilities Real Estate & Construction team, and the Technology Support team
  • Responsible for the morale and positive engagement of the Facilities team members under your organizational leadership
  • Ensures compliance with local building codes, OSHA regulations, fire safety codes, and other legal requirements.
  • Maintains documentation for inspections, permits, and regulatory filings.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required

Experience

  • 5+ years of related experience in engineering, property management, business, construction, architecture, or similar field
  • 1+ year of leadership experience

Experience in lieu of education

Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements. Generally, equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous background in Facilities Management
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) designation
  • Experience with one or more of the following systems: Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM), Building Management Systems (BMS), Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), Facilities Asset Management Systems, Facilities Inventory Management Systems

Position & Application Details
