Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $137500 - $182129.2. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Technology Breakthrough and Innovation? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Technology Breakthrough and Innovation (R&D) function. As a Manager-Interrupting Systems, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.

S&C Electric, a leading manufacturer of medium voltage distribution switchgear, is seeking an experienced technical leader for their Interrupting Systems group, which is an important part of the Power Hardware team in TBI. The selected candidate will be a multi-talented team member with a strong background in mechanical and electrical engineering. Key skills include product design, prototyping, problem-solving and testing of electromechanical systems. Experience with the above in the medium and high-voltage electrical industry is highly desired. As the Manager of Interrupting Systems, you will work with and guide diverse teams of engineers through concept and product development program and oversee the required testing and qualification of a wide range of electromechanical systems. Your responsibilities will include developing best-in-class electromechanical systems and manufacturable, cost-effective medium-voltage switchgear.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and participating in cross-functional product development teams supporting the commercialization of medium-voltage electrical products for the utility market.
  • Coaching and overseeing group and individual development using technical leadership and performance management.
  • Communicating with internal and external stakeholders, establishing objectives and expectations.
  • Ensuring the design team itself follows robust design processes, for example, through design of experiments and extensive use of FEA.
  • Directing problem-solving efforts during product design.
  • Creating validation programs, advising on the necessary test methods and instrumentation throughout.
  • Establishing budget objectives based on the need for people and equipment in both the short and long term.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

Job Requirements (To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):

  • BS or greater in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited university and 10+ years of directly related experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role (an advanced degree is a plus).
  • Demonstrated success leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and individual contributors.
  • Proven track record of developing quality solutions within tight deadlines to meet demanding customer specifications.
  • Strong skills in identifying risks, developing mitigation strategies, alternative solutions, resolving issues, etc., independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to combine disparate ideas into unique solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong desire to succeed with a sense of urgency and a "make it happen" attitude.
  • Strong aptitude for DFMA, FMEA tools to build robust product design.

Major Physical Demands:

  • Standing: Occasional standing for work,
  • Lifting: Occasional loading/unloading up to twenty-five lbm test samples in environmental chambers,
  • Walking: Frequent walking throughout the campus facility,
  • Carrying: Occasional carrying of light objects for short distances,
  • Pushing: Occasional use of manual hand carts to move items,
  • Pulling: Occasional use of manual pallet jack to move items,
  • Bending: Occasional bending,
  • Reaching: Occasional reaching,
  • Handling: Occasional handling of parts or tools,
  • Environment: Standard office / desktop workspace and test laboratory space,
  • Travel: Occasional travel to S&C's Franklin, WI campus.
