About the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs

Founded in 1990, the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs is dedicated to educating the next generation of scholars and practitioners on distinct approaches to tackling real-world problems to advance the global human condition. As one of the first professional schools of international affairs situated at major technological institute, we provide comprehensive, interdisciplinary, multi-method, and flexible undergraduate and graduate social science programming at the nexus of science and technology, with special attention to strategic, political economy, and comparative political perspectives on international security, global development, and governance.

The Nunn School is multidisciplinary and focuses on understanding the global context of advances in science and technology. Georgia Tech is a top-ranked public research university situated in the heart of Atlanta, a vibrant city with great economic and cultural strengths. The Institute is a member of the University System of Georgia, the Georgia Research Alliance, and the Association of American Universities. The Nunn School is a member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA). Nunn School faculty may hold joint appointments with other units across the Institute. Many Nunn School faculty conduct both sponsored and basic research with colleagues across the Institute.

Job Summary

Provide learning support opportunities to students in assigned target group(s) through directing programs designed to help them excel in their academic endeavors. Services provided including tutoring, facilitating faculty interaction, and academic coaching. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Students, staff, and facultyThis position typically will advise and counsel: Students and staffThis position will supervise: Assigned staff

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 - Plan, design, and coordinate a range of programs and services that support student academic endeavors
Job Duty 2 - Lead the hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating tutors, SI leaders, and student assistants
Job Duty 3 - Oversee data management/assessment for all academic support programs
Job Duty 4 - Develop and request crystal reports for reporting, assessment and evaluation purposes; and ensuring data are stored securely and in compliance with OIT and Institute guidelines and policies
Job Duty 5 - Coordinate all operations and logistics in assigned tutoring area, including managing tutoring reception desk, departmental tutoring rooms; oversee technology and A/V equipment that support tutoring programs
Job Duty 6 - Oversee marketing materials and communication efforts for tutoring and academic support programs
Job Duty 7 - Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications
Overnight travel requupported for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules, project requupportements).

Required Experience
Three to four years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with a student information systems and tutoring scheduling software

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires advanced knowledge of effective teaching and learning practices; working knowledge of student development theory and advising practices; advanced knowledge of provision of academic support services; advanced skills in office related computer applications; familiarity with basic skills in data analysis and descriptive statistics; strong verbal and written skills; excellent customer service, leadership, and supervisory skills; ability to communicate with diverse population of students, staff, and faculty.
