Production Lead - 1st Shift

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Production Lead works closely with the employees on their team to drive the performance of the line to achieve our OEE standards.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 5:00am - 1:00pm. Occasional Saturdays required based on business need.

Attendance Incentive: earn an extra dollar per hour for working all scheduled hours during the week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.



  1. Provides direction to team members including but not limited to:

    1. Proper line set-up
    2. Paperwork verification
    3. Job responsibilities
    4. Work area cleanliness
    5. Safe job performance
    6. Quality of production


  2. Provides direction to idle employees during downtime
  3. Completes and/or audits paperwork submitted by employees
  4. Calls maintenance and warehouse for appropriate equipment or supply issues
  5. Leads the department by example
  6. Provides supervisor with creative ideas to solve existing and potential opportunities for improvement (safety, quality, and productivity)
  7. Accepts responsibility for delegated tasks assigned by Supervisor
  8. Operates machines proficiently and is willing and able to learn additional machinery as needed
  9. Participates in at least one continuous improvement team for their line per year
  10. Uses fundamental levels of email and computer entry software. Ability to learn basics of E21 system.
  11. Coordinates smooth shift transitions
  12. Accurate inventory control of all packaging materials and finished goods pallets
  13. Assists Supervisor to drive and test process improvements
  14. Coordinates projects such as sorting and rework
  15. Inspects all machinery after sanitation to ensure they are clean and assembled completely and correctly
  16. Completes daily productivity reporting
  17. Provides breaks to employees on the line
  18. Operates hand jack (after certification)
  19. Follows all safety protocols
  20. Participates in the Safety Committee
  21. All other duties as assigned


Education and/or Experience



  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • At least 1 year experience as a Production Lead working in a food manufacturing environment or experience working at the company for at least 6 months required



Skills and Competencies



  • Ability to read, comprehend, and accurately follow documents such as ingredient information and batch records
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic proficiency in math for measuring and recording ingredients
  • Ability to use basic computer software systems (E21) to input and retrieve data
  • Ability to apply practical problem-solving skills and follow detailed instructions in both written and verbal formats
  • Ability to use sound judgement to handle routine issues within a standardized environment
  • Proactively identify safety and GMP opportunities
  • Requires forklift certification

  • Standing for a majority of the shift
  • Lifting up to 55 pounds as required
  • Pushing full ingredient totes/bins short distances (max weight 320 pounds)
  • Maneuvering barrels of product
  • Accessing, climbing, and maneuvering around machinery
  • Walking, talking, seeing, and hearing
  • Using hands to handle objects, tools, or controls
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting overhead
