Job Overview
The Director of Data Products is the head of the entire Data Product organization. This role ensures alignment of the data strategy with business objectives, overseeing both the Data Products and Data Ecosystem teams. Responsible for leading and guiding teams to deliver business value through data-driven insights and solutions. They work closely with senior leadership to set the direction for the data strategy and ensure data operations are running smoothly.
The Data Ecosystem Team is focused on ensuring that the data infrastructure is set up correctly, with strong attention to data governance, quality, and pipeline management. Together, these teams ensure the successful development, implementation, and continuous improvement of data products that drive the business forward. This team ensures the smooth operation of the Data Layers, Data Definition, and Data Pipelines that underpin the data products ensuring that the data ecosystem is reliable, scalable, and optimized for supporting the needs of data products.
This new leader will be responsible for converting the captured data into insights and actionable recommendations for the business. They will lead teams in Customer Segmentation, Customer Journey Analytics, Personalized Recommendations and Data Ecosystem who will play an important role in creating a data-driven customer experience. They work closely with one another, often relying on shared data insights, to improve the customer journey, increase engagement, and drive sales. This team partners more closely with the business team, and the data ecosystem team partners with the IT team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Define the T-Data model and governance, overseeing the creation and maintenance of the data layers (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
- Ensure seamless integration of data from various sources into the product ecosystem.
- Coordinate cross-functional work with data engineers and analysts to ensure data quality and accessibility.
- Support data integration efforts and ensure data flows smoothly through pipelines with the right frequency.
- Work cross functionally with Business teams across digital marketing, campaign management and CRM, business reporting, care & sales.
Customer Segmentation Team
- Focuses on analyzing and categorizing customers into meaningful groups based on various attributes such as demographics, behavior, preferences, and interactions with the brand. The goal is to enable personalized marketing, sales strategies, and improved customer targeting.
- Responsible for Customer Data Platform (CDP) including transaction history, browsing behavior, social media interactions, customer support data, and more.
- Segments will be fed into marketing automation systems, CRM tools, and other business systems to facilitate personalized marketing, customer service strategies, and tailored experiences.
Customer Journey Analytics Team
- Focuses on tracking and analyzing the complete customer experience across all touchpoints with the company. This includes tracking interactions across channels (website, mobile, in-store, customer support) to understand how customers move through their journey-from awareness to purchase and beyond.
- Data Analysts work on mapping the customer journey by analyzing interaction data, identifying common paths, and recognizing key milestones in the customer's lifecycle.
- Use A/B testing to test different experiences (e.g., website layout, checkout process) and assess their impact on the customer journey. Provide business leaders and marketing teams with insights into the effectiveness of customer journey stages, such as which touchpoints are converting customers and which are losing them.
Personalized Recommendations Team
- Focuses on creating personalized content and product recommendations for customers based on their behavior and preferences with the goal of improving the customer experience and drive higher sales or engagement through targeted suggestions.
- Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers design and develop recommendation algorithms that predict what products or content a customer is most likely to be interested in.
Data Ecosystem Team
- Focused on ensuring that the data infrastructure is set up correctly, with strong attention to data governance, quality, and pipeline management. Together, these teams ensure the successful development, implementation, and continuous improvement of data products that drive the business forward.
- Ensures the smooth operation of the Data Layers, Data Definition, and Data Pipelines that underpin the data products.
- Ensures that the data ecosystem is reliable, scalable, and optimized for supporting the needs of data products. They lead teams that are responsible for maintaining the quality and governance of data as it flows through the ecosystem and into the various data products. They work to ensure that the data being collected and processed is structured, defined, and ready for use by the Data Product Managers.
Education and Work Experience:
- 10+ years Product Management experience in an agile software product development environment preferably in a large consumer organization with millions of consumer applications and an advanced level understanding of managing Data Products.
- 5+ years of experience with data platforms, and analytics.
- Background working with engineering and a strong understanding of the role of engineering in product development.
- 5+ years of experience in leading strategy, innovation, and data products.
- Advanced knowledge of data tools, techniques, and manipulation including cloud platforms, programming languages, and technology platforms.
- 5+ years leading and developing teams including people managers with skip-level employees.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience driving enterprise data, analytics, and insights solutions and other technologies.
- Build, lead, mentor, and inspire team(s); managing performance, goals, and development potential, create and foster an environment that values and promotes autonomy, skill mastery, empowerment, transparency, innovation, and learning.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as qualifications and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.
