SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
The LNG Operations Specialist ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operations across LNG assets. This role supports daily production, improves operational practices, and strengthens collaboration between Operations, Engineering, HSSE, and Environment. Responsibilities include coaching field operators, developing procedures, and driving continuous improvement aligned with NextDecade's Operations Management System. With a strong focus on HSSE, asset integrity, and operational excellence, the specialist supports the safe and efficient delivery of the RGLNG project. The role offers growth opportunities in a dynamic, collaborative environment and requires strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Champion and uphold RGLNG HSSE standards, Life Saving Rules, and Process Safety Fundamentals.
  • Maintain close coordination with Operations Supervisors and the Operations Maintenance Coordinator to manage short- and medium-term priorities and risks.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination of daily operations activities with shift teams and relevant engineering or technology stakeholders.
  • Plan and organize daily engineering and operations activities in the Process area, aligning priorities with the Production Director, Daylight Operations Manager, and other key stakeholders.
  • Act as the Operations focal point and stage gate owner for Management of Change (MoC) processes; own and manage MoCs initiated by the operations team.
  • Provide operational input into Leak Detection programs.
  • Support the design and approval of non-standard isolations.
  • Review and improve critical operating procedures (e.g., start-up, defrost, purging, draining).
  • Lead coordination of plant operating trials and manage daily and standing instructions.
  • Review and maintain Temporary Work Instructions and operator rounds (routine and ad hoc).
  • Provide operations support to Engineering, HSSE, and Projects, including participation in risk assessments, PHAs, RCAs, and investigations.
  • Audit and enhance key operational practices and registers (e.g., shift handover, lock open/closed valves, inhibits/overrides, leaks and seeps, LOTO).
  • Support the review and update of operations procedures to ensure compliance with standards and guidelines.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives and implement feedback from shift teams.
  • Maintain and share operations lessons learned across teams.
  • Provide leadership and expertise during commissioning, start-up, and turnarounds; may require working a shift roster for short periods.
  • Deliver Operating Modes Assessments, ensuring adequate controls, mitigations, and procedures are in place for safe and stable operations.
MINUMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 5+ years of LNG Operations experience.
  • In depth understanding of production/operation management, production/operation business process flow, and overall job execution workflow
  • Good leadership skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to get a Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC)
  • Ability to manage alignment between large stakeholders
  • Time Management and effective communication skills
  • Computer literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Role is based in Brownsville, Texas
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Experience in large LNG projects.
  • LNG or gas processing commissioning and start-up experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in LNG operations.
Job Site Work Environment
* Must be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions.
* Operates in a complex construction environment.
* Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
* Not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes. Possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions.
* Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits.
* Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction.
* Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and radios.

* Ability to drive to other Company work locations as required.

* The incumbent is required to have fully mechanical motion and usage of all extremities.
* Physically able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle, and lift items weighing up to 20 lbs. without assistance.
* Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
* Must be able to clearly communicate with others via radio, phone, and verbal methods.
* May be required to enter confined spaces.
* May be required to work at elevated heights and access elevated structures without assistance.
