About The Role:

As a Client Developer, you will lead business development initiatives and collaborate with Marketing and Project Management teams across various sectors, including economic/commercial/industrial development, municipal/governmental projects, the healthcare sector, and more.



  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with local staff to set sales goals and build relationships with key decision-makers to support business objectives.
  • Client Development: Strengthen existing client relationships, pursue new opportunities, and engage in professional associations to expand the network and drive growth.
  • Marketing: Coordinate advertising strategies and organize local events to increase visibility and engagement within target markets.
  • Proposal Management: Support the creation and submission of proposals and responses to Requests for Qualifications (RFQs).
  • Team Leadership &Training: Lead monthly business development meetings and help train staff in business development best practices.


To excel as a Client Developer with S&ME, you will have a proven track record of success in researching, prospecting, and scheduling face-to-face meetings with key decision-makers and influencers, resulting in qualified opportunities. Current involvement and visibility in professional organizations, industry associations, civic groups, and/or local associations for economic and business growth is a plus.

About You:



  • You have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, marketing, construction, business, or a related field
  • You have a minimum of 4 years of technical and/or business development experience within the Commercial Real Estate, Architecture, Construction, and Engineering industries
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You have existing relationships with various A/E/C industry Designers, Contractors, and Owners
  • You are willing and able to travel, using personal vehicles for use during company business, which may sometimes occur during evenings and on weekends
  • You can help increase sales opportunities for S&ME, achieve a sales target, and grow the Alabama office and markets
