- In this role you will integrate expertise in payroll
operations, payroll tax compliance, general ledger reconciliation, and system testing, ensuring seamless payroll management while adhering to regulatory and operational standards - This role involves both strategic oversight and hands-on
execution within payroll and tax compliance processes - You will oversee and manage the end-to-end
payroll process to ensure accuracy and timely payroll processing for multiple EINs, address and resolve employee inquiries related to payroll discrepancies or tax-related issues, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws related to wages, hours worked, overtime calculations, deductions, and more - You will manage federal, state, and local
payroll tax regulations, providing guidance on emerging issues and best practices, research tax laws, implement updates, and ensure compliant payroll tax policies, review and reconcile tax filings for federal, state, unemployment, and local jurisdictions - You will manage year - end tax
reconciliation (e.g., W-2s, 1099s), settling against payroll system and third-party records, manage tax vendor and ensure vendor is meeting all contract SLA's, ensuring timely tax payments and accurate setup of tax jurisdictions in payroll systems, and manage and register Linde companies with states enacting new disability & PFL benefits, as well as lead IRS and state audits by gathering necessary data and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards - Manage the (G/L) Reporting &
Reconciliation Process, ensuring payroll data is accurately reflected in the General Ledger for financial and statutory reporting, collaborate with the accounting team to reconcile payroll-related accounts and resolve any discrepancies, and prepare regular financial reports detailing payroll expenditures, adjustments, accruals, and tax-related transactions - Conduct system checks and user
acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure proper setup of payroll systems, tax jurisdictions, and limits within software tools (e.g., UltiPro), audit payroll systems and records periodically to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency, identify areas for increased automation, process improvement, and operational efficiencies in payroll tax processing - Coordinate with internal teams
(HR, accounting, and business partners) and external vendors to support payroll operations and resolve complex inquiries, and effectively communicate findings, best practices, and recommendations to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives - Partner on special projects
related to payroll taxes, system updates, process improvement, and legal entity inquiries, collaborate with teams to streamline workflows and optimize payroll tax administration, and resolve unusual issues by investigating their source and implementing corrective measures to mitigate future occurrences
What makes you great
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting,
Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience) - Minimum 5+ years of experience in payroll administration, payroll tax
compliance, and general ledger reporting - Extensive knowledge of federal,
state, and local tax regulations governing payroll - Experience with payroll systems
(e.g., UltiPro or similar software) and proficiency in system testing and upgrades - Strong analytical,
problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail - Proven ability to execute process
improvements and optimization within payroll and accounting functions - Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and with external vendors - Familiarity with IRS and
state-level audits and reporting requirements
