Healthcare Project Manager (construction)

As an an experienced Healthcare Project Manager to lead complex, ground-up and renovation projects for hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare environments. You'll play a pivotal role in delivering spaces that prioritize safety, efficiency, and healing-while navigating the challenges and intricacies unique to healthcare construction. Guiding your team through the full project lifecycle-ensuring safety, quality, and compliance in sensitive, operational environments.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Manage budgets, field operations, scheduling, and quality control, always with patient safety and infection control in mind.



  • Prepare and oversee contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders, and monthly billing processes.



  • Collaborate with Superintendents to develop and maintain detailed project schedules, phasing plans, and logistics that align with hospital operations.



  • Coordinate preconstruction planning with estimating and virtual construction teams, using BIM and phasing models to ensure minimal disruption to patient care.



  • Lead and document thorough pre-task and post-task planning, emphasizing interim life safety measures (ILSM), infection control risk assessments (ICRA), and AHJ requirements.



  • Champion jobsite safety, including OSHA compliance and healthcare-specific protocols.



  • Facilitate stakeholder communication with hospital administrators, facilities staff, and infection control teams.



  • Participate in closeout activities, including punch lists, O&M manuals, owner training, and occupancy logistics.



  • Coach and mentor junior staff and foster collaboration across project teams.



  • Support business development efforts by participating in proposals, interviews, and client relationship building.




Qualifications:




  • Strong communication, organizational, and team leadership skills.



  • Proven ability to navigate the complexities of working in active healthcare environments.



  • An understanding of healthcare codes, infection control measures, interim life safety, and emergency protocols.



  • A track record of successful projects over $20M, preferably in occupied hospital settings.



  • Comfort managing details, while never losing sight of the big picture.




Education & Experience:




  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).



  • 7+ years of progressive experience managing large commercial projects, including at least 3 years in healthcare construction.



  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards (e.g., Joint Commission, NFPA 99, FGI Guidelines).



  • Knowledge of construction law, contract terms, and risk management.
