The Community Design Professional supports the planning, design, and delivery of educational environments tailored to primary and secondary learning. This role collaborates closely with internal project teams and stakeholders to translate goals into innovative architectural solutions. The ideal candidate has experience with community projects. This is an exempt position paid on a salary basis.

Parkhill is one of the largest architectural and engineering firms in the Southwest. We have 13 offices located throughout Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.



Responsibilities

    Assist in programming, planning, and development of architectural design solutions for K-12 education projects.
  • Develop design concepts, graphics, presentations, and construction documents using Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Coordinate design intent with consultants, engineers, and internal discipline leaders to ensure cohesive project execution.
  • Support and participate in user group meetings, school board presentations, and community engagement sessions.
  • Research and integrate applicable codes, including ADA, state education agency (e.g., TEA) requirements, and school safety standards.
  • Contribute to construction administration, including submittal reviews, RFIs, and site observations.
  • Collaborate with the K-12 team and sector leadership to maintain design standards, sector goals, and client satisfaction.
  • Participate in firm culture through internal initiatives, professional development, and sector team meetings.
  • Travel to client meetings, school districts, and job sites.


Qualifications

  • Obtained an accredited master's degree that allows for licensure in the state of hire.
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture from a NAAB-accredited program.
  • 3-6 years of professional design experience, preferably in K-12 or education-focused projects.
  • Actively pursuing or recently obtained architectural licensure.
  • Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, MOS and Bluebeam.
  • Previous experience with Texas or New Mexico school districts preferred.
  • Familiarity with LEED, WELL, or sustainable design frameworks is a plus.
