Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is$93,000.00 to$154,900.00.

Position Details
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Transportation Strategy, the Manager, Transportation Design and Optimization supports the Grainger US transportation design and optimization business and is aligned with company initiatives over a multi-year horizon. As a strategic leader scope can span all transportation service categories including customer fulfillment, drop ship, external replenishment, and internal replenishment. The role owns responsibility for the current dedicated transportation solutions along with strategic vision of how these programs will evolve in the future. This position is Hybrid requiring 50% of time spent onsite at the Lake Forest, IL headquarters.
You Will
  • Drives transportation design improvements for over 50 million outbound customer shipments annually.
  • Identifies optimization opportunities in Grainger's inbound transportation network using deep industry expertise.
  • Collaborates and influences across functions and levels, working with external carriers and internal stakeholders including Directors and VPs in GTG, DC Operations, and Finance.
  • Analyzes business needs and transportation markets to recommend innovative, cost-effective, and service-enhancing solutions.
  • Promotes a culture of innovation and continuous improvement through creative problem-solving and forward-thinking strategies.
  • Contributes to cross-functional initiatives that enhance customer service, reduce costs, lower inventory levels, and minimize variability.
  • Leads dedicated transportation programs, including managing the SCRDP analyst, ensuring daily operations, and driving performance improvements.
  • Provides strategic insights and leadership alignment by analyzing program data, evaluating cost/service impacts, and guiding the future direction of transportation initiatives.
You Have
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • 5+ years Required
  • Proven leadership in driving results through strategic thinking and effective decision-making.
  • Experienced change management agent with a track record of leading organizational transformation.
  • Strong background in process management and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Skilled in project management with a history of delivering complex initiatives on time and within scope.
  • Proficient in financial analysis, network modeling, and leveraging data to inform strategic decisions.
