JOB TITLE:

Veterans Services Center Coordinator

JOB PURPOSE:

Coordinate and manage the programs, services, resources, and operations of the Veterans Services Center (VSC). Serve as a resource and support, working collaboratively within Student Affairs to ensure optimization of veteran student success, retention, and well-being.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Program robust student success focused programming and oversee the administration of the VSC for UW student veterans.
  • Develop trainings, presentations, and programs to educate campus and community partners on veteran students, services of the VSC, and navigating military-connected educational benefits.
  • Develop and maintain external relationships with military families, dignitaries, Wyoming Veterans Affairs Dept., and community partners for continued support of the VSC services and representation.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to enhance the veteran student experience, including but not limited to orientation programming, transfer students, graduation, roll call, military appreciation events, and more.
  • Conduct regular assessment and evaluation of programs, student learning, and employees. Participate in Union-related events, meetings, trainings, and programs.
  • Direct and supervise the project personnel functions including hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of staff.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States. Sponsorship for H-1B work authorization or work visa is not available for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 3 years work-related experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements:
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience supervising professional and student staff
  • Proven experience navigating higher education and government policy
  • Ability to work collaboratively with division and campus partners
  • Understanding of current veteran student needs
  • Familiarity with initiatives, programs, and services to support veteran students
  • Proven experience serving as a mentor to support development
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
