Client Account Opening Specialist
The Account Opening Specialist is responsible for Analysis of account documentation presented to include procedural and legal requirements for multi-level, complex relationships and fulfillment of deposit account opening and account maintenance for the lines of business that support our high value, high revenue generating customers. The Client Account Opening Specialist must be able to provide detailed review and open new deposit account requests across the footprint states as well as international requests while performing other duties as assigned. Types of new deposit accounts include commercial, consumer, and specialty accounts. The position requires comfortability with high volume fulfillment touching an average of 25 accounts per person on a monthly basis within department service level for relationships often exceeding $40 million in deposits and loans.

Position Responsibilities:


  • Perform analysis of new deposit account requests that include complex entity formations such as LLC's, corporations, partnerships, and sole proprietorships.
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of all, or many of the following: business acquisitions, mergers, escrows, trusts, property management agreements, and other specialized business frameworks to ensure procedural, regulatory, and legal requirements are adhered to within Comerica's risk appetite.
  • Prepare quality documentation and open accounts related to request using internal systems (e.g. TRiO, HOGAN, ECIS).
  • Gather relevant information from both internal and external sources such as procedures, public sources databases, internet search engines, etc.
  • Review and comprehend complex documentation and escalating to appropriate personnel as needed. Meet or exceed key performance metrics while handling a high volume of requests.
  • Perform maintenance requests such as signer and title changes for all types of deposit accounts including mergers/acquisitions, escrows, trusts, property deposit accounts, and specialized accounts.
  • Ensure requirements are met for procedural and legal requirements for entities established in all footprint states as well as international entities.
  • Prepare quality documentation and apply requested changes to accounts related to request using internal systems (e.g. TRiO, HOGAN, ECIS) and must have experience with Word and Excel. Meet or exceed key performance metrics while handling a high volume of requests.
  • Collaborate with business partners from a solution-oriented position, focusing on the Customer Comes First, The Bigger Possible and One Comerica core values.
  • Spend time with peers and partners to understand the end-to-end process and to collaborate for cross functional awareness and best practices.
  • Gather relevant information from both internal and external sources such as procedures, public sources databases, Internet search engines, etc.
  • Escalate inaccuracies, missing steps, etc. in procedures and process documentation to leadership.


Position Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 4 years of operational/new account experience within banking/financial service industry
  • 1 year of Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel and Window based applications including system data entry and internet search


Preferred Qualification:


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university OR 100 college credits and 4 years of banking/financial experience dealing with new accounts

Work Best Category: Category B - 3-4 days in office on designated days/1-2 days remote Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday Salary: To Be Determined Based on Individual Experience
