Job Summary

Under direct supervision, acquires skills and knowledge of professional concepts in research data analysis. Works on small projects or segments of projects with limited scope and complexity. Involves gathering, analyzing, and interpreting a wide variety of research data. Designs and conducts research including selecting data samples, developing research instruments, analyzing collected information according to established statistical methods, and developing recommendations based on research findings. Prepares reports, charts, tables, and other visual aids to interpret and communicate data and results.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $63,700 - $84,000 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Fan Lab is inviting applications from highly motivated individuals, who are interested in computational approaches to exciting questions at the intersection of sleep, epilepsy, and neuromodulation.

Overview

  • We are interested in understanding the epilepsy network dysfunction through the lens of sleep dynamics. In addition, we are investigating novel non-invasive methods for neuromodulation, such as focused ultrasound. You will be an active team member, assisting with projects and leading your own.
  • We will use non-invasive and invasive electrophysiologic to study fundamental questions related to epilepsy and its comorbidities.
  • You will have the opportunity to work closely and receive direct mentorship from the Principal Investigator, Joline Fan, as well as other team members and collaborators.
  • You will be part of a phenomenal intellectual environment at UCSF, where you will also have access to massive data sets and unique recording modalities to answer fundamental questions.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Highly skilled in programming in MATLAB or Python
  • Experience with neural signal processing
  • Enthusiasm, adaptability, reliability, and ability to work and interact positively with people of all types from diverse backgrounds.
  • Acquiring knowledge of research function.
  • Acquiring ability to perform research analysis duties.
  • Acquiring statistical analysis, systems programming, and database design skills to perform research analysis duties.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and see assigned parts of projects through to completion on deadline.
  • Basic consultation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in statistics and/or machine learning
