Hourly Pay Range:

$19.89 - $28.84 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Public Safety Officer Lead
  • Location: Swedish Hospital
  • Full Time- 40hrs
  • Hours: 12am- 8:30am

Job Summary:

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provides unarmed uniformed security and safety related services to all customers, patients and employees of Endeavor Health.

This position will work in a lead capacity and perform regular public safety duties which includes support. Will provide orientation and training to new employees.

What you will do:

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. This includes knowledge of the physical and psychological needs of patients served and the ability to respond appropriately to those needs.
  • Coordinates the work of assigned department staff and determines daily work post assignments.
  • Trains and orients newly hired Security Officers on his/her shift.
  • Monitors Security Officers in performance of their duties and provides on-going direction of activities during the shift. Determines when an incident requires written report, which report form to use and submits to Supervisor, Public Safety. Prepare other written reports as directed.
  • Coordinates interviews for investigations with Edward employees and law enforcement agencies.
  • Briefs oncoming Lead Officer/Shift Officers regarding any reports and pertinent information.
  • Performs duties of Public Safety Office as needed.

What you will need:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • High-school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a customer-focused service-based organization
  • Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum three years' experience in law enforcement, military, private security or security experience in a healthcare environment
  • A basic level of microcomputer software (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, etc.)
  • Knowledge of loss prevention and fire/security technology
  • Required license and/or certification:

  • A valid driver's license. If the incumbent uses their personal vehicle, the incumbent must maintain
  • automobile liability coverage as required by law and evidence of such coverage may be requested.
  • Current CPR Certification issued by either American Heart Association or Red Cross required within 90 days of hire
  • A valid Illinois Firearm Owner's Identification Card is required within 90 days of hire
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification within six months of hire
  • Preferred License and/or Certification:

  • Certification for the Basic Officers course from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS)
  • Supervisor Healthcare Security Officer Certification
