Position description

The Department of Radiology (http://radiology.ucsd.edu) at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are currently seeking full-time faculty to join our Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiology team.

UC San Diego School of Medicine is consistently ranked among the top research-intensive medical schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. UC San Diego Health is the only academic health system serving the San Diego region, with major campuses in Hillcrest and La Jolla. The health system includes two Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Centers, an NCI-designated Moores Comprehensive Cancer Center, a Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center, a Level 4 Epilepsy Center, a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and a Center of Excellence for Parkinson's Disease.

The Department of Radiology is one of the most innovative and productive academic radiology departments in the country, offering advanced imaging services that support exceptional clinical care and cutting-edge translational research. The MSK Division includes eight faculty physicians and several MSP radiologists who provide subspecialized imaging services across UC San Diego Health, the region's only academic health system.

Clinical responsibilities include the interpretation of MSK radiographs, DEXA, CT, MRI, and ultrasound, as well as image-guided procedures such as joint injections, aspirations, and biopsies using fluoroscopy, ultrasound, or CT. In addition to clinical service, selected candidates are expected to teach medical students, residents, and fellows; participate in multidisciplinary conferences and division activities; and complete UCSD-certified moderate sedation training as part of their procedural responsibilities. Selected candidates will provide on-site coverage at multiple clinical locations, with potential hybrid work opportunities supported by a home PACS workstation, depending on departmental needs.

Candidates who are comfortable performing and triaging MSK interventions-including tendon procedures, PRP, and bone and soft tissue biopsies-are encouraged to apply.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.
