DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations at all beach swimming areas along Lake Erie within Presque Isle State Park. This includes managing the activities of subordinate Lake Erie Lifeguard Supervisors to ensure the safety and well-being of swimmers and park visitors. Key duties involve planning, organizing, and assessing the Waterfront Program, which entails establishing program goals, standards, and procedures. The role requires determining staffing needs for lifeguards and supervisors, coordinating the hiring process, and managing supply orders. Additionally, you will conduct training sessions focused on lifesaving and safety, organize special events, and prepare daily schedules and payroll documents. While the Park Manager outlines the overarching objectives for the Waterfront Program, you will have considerable autonomy in setting specific goals and effectively implementing the program.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2026.
  • Days/shifts will vary, employee will work 5 days/40 hours per week as needed to include holidays and weekends.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two seasons of experience as a Lake Erie Lifeguard Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four seasons of experience as a Lake Erie Lifeguard (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires a valid Lifeguard Certification or Lifeguard Management Certification issued by the American Red Cross, YMCA, United States Lifesaving Association, or other authority recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Health within 14 days of employment.
  • This position requires a valid certifications in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR within 14 days of employment.
  • This position requires possession of a valid motor vehicle license.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
