Job Summary:

The full-time Assessment Coordinator is a core member of the student recruitment and assessment team at Temple University's Workforce Education and Lifelong Learning Program (WELL). The WELL Program is an Adult Literacy Agency funded by PDE that assists individuals with attaining their high school equivalency diploma, improving English language skills, and preparing students for college & career opportunities. The assessment coordinator assists with overseeing standardized and proprietary assessments conducted on Main Campus or at partner organizations and is responsible for tracking student progress during pretest and posttest completion and assisting with student academic improvement.

The incumbent will assist with developing and coordinating testing strategies and procedures, maintaining scheduling systems for tracking and ensuring that pretests and posttests are administered within the required timeframes, and explaining testing options, accommodations, payment options, and sharing outcomes with students, staff, and instructors in a timely manner. The candidate is also responsible for assisting with proctor training and credentialing, updating staff on testing options, requirements, and outcomes, troubleshooting testing issues, securing assessment data, instruments, and materials, and instructing assigned training classes as needed. The candidate must have hands-on experience with paper-based and virtual assessment or related instruments and demonstrate excellent computer, internet, database, typing, data entry, computer troubleshooting, and customer service skills. This position reports to the WELL associate director. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote); the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.

Required Education & Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in education, Business, Computer Science, or related field required.
  • At least two (2) years of related experience working with adults in a fast-paced educational environment, utilizing paper-based and remote assessment systems.
  • At least one (1) year of experience scheduling, facilitating, and scoring assessments, and discussing/explaining pretest and posttest scores,
  • At least one (1) year of experience entering data into mid-to-large-sized data systems required.
  • Excellent technology, data management, data entry, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with adult literacy programming, and the ADA regarding test accommodations and assisting students with requesting accommodations from test vendors.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Preferred:

Familiarity with CCRS, CCS, and ELP standards preferred.

Essential Functions of Position:



  • Assists with coordinating and facilitating standardized group and individual test administration of CASAS, TABE, NorthStar, GEDReady, and other student assessment instruments as assigned.
  • Assists with the development and coordination of assessment procedures, policies, and schedules; assists with ensuring adequate staffing for the administration of paper-based and remote operations for all locations.
  • Performs assessment software installations and updates, including performance testing and basic troubleshooting of software and desktop/laptop issues; escalates issues to vendor or Temple IT as appropriate.
  • Contacts assessment publishers and PDE as needed to ensure program compliance; assists program coordinator with maintaining an adequate supply of testing materials.
  • Monitors the administration of student assessments by proctors; ensures that test instructions are accurate and that appropriate testing environments are maintained.
  • Performs quality checks; configures and operates test scoring equipment, as applicable.
  • Provides direction, information, and advice to students and prospective students regarding program enrollment, testing policies, procedures, and outcomes.
  • Ensures that all test administration is carried out in compliance with test publishers, PDE, and relevant programmatic guidelines, policies, regulations, and standards.
  • Ensures confidentiality of test results; maintains security of testing materials and score reports.
  • Attends assessment-related trainings and keeps informed of advancing technology and changes in standardized adult test administration.
  • Instructs assigned classes as assigned and needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
