This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will lead the start up of Lunar production work centers.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

    • A Shift: Monday through Thursday from 5 am to 3:30 pm.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with Program Responsible Engineers, Construction Managers, Project Managers to support the team in the stand up of work centers.
  • Define manufacturing lead times for new products and deliver hardware based on need-by-dates
  • Outfit new work centers and ensuring compliance with EHS regulations
  • Create communication channels across Blue Origin's support functions by being an operations single threaded leader for the work centers assigned
  • Precision assembly of rocket engine components: combustion devices, valves, turbomachinery, avionics, test
  • Root cause and diagnostic component disassembly, repair, and work
  • Hydraulic testing for valve actuation
  • Nitrogen and Helium leak testing
  • Preparation for environmental testing
  • Hydro proof structural testing of components
  • Detailed component inspection to tolerances of 0.0001in
  • Crafting and maintaining strict cleanliness requirements (liquid/gaseous oxygen compatibility)
  • Support the design, procurement, installation, and integration of custom manufacturing and test equipment
  • Help maintain inventory of tooling and equipment
  • Safely work with hazardous systems, chemicals, and fast paced operations
  • Define how to prepare hardware for test, qualification, and flight
  • Identify, develop, and deploy new manufacturing methods (or refine existing) to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build schedule
  • Mechanical skills including torque, leak test and proof test
  • Support the development of manufacturing work instructions to clearly define the following manufacturing processes: receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, test, and integration, and refurbishment
  • Identify non-conformances and escapes, support and deploy corrective actions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system, assembly and vehicle integration.
  • 5-10 years of direct valve, turbomachinery, or engine assembly experience
  • 3-5 years of experience with new product introduction developing new processes and work centers
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A&P license or equivalent experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and integration.
  • Familiarity with pressurized system safety for pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Mastery of precision and tight tolerance assembly
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience reading and understanding specification and detailed work instructions
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc)

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $42.47-$59.46
