Ellwood Crankshaft Group (ECG) is the world's leading manufacturer of large, one-of-a-kind, multiple-throw crankshafts. ECG's products and services include crankshafts and eccentrics used in mechanical stamping presses, reciprocating air and gas compressors, reciprocating pumps, engines, mechanical shears, rock crushers, homogenizers and other miscellaneous applications. ECG services the locomotive, shipping, mechanical press, oil and gas and compression markets.

Today, ECG has four facilities throughout PA. We are seeking a full-time Purchasing Specialist to help support our facilities in Hermitage and Sharon, PA. This salaried-exempt position will be located out of the ECM facility in Hermitage, PA requiring occasional travel to the other facilities and report directly to the Director of Purchasing.

The Purchasing Specialist will apply skill, knowledge and judgment in projecting, maintaining and improving inventory, inventory control and inventory procedures to insure adequate inventory without overstock and to promote efficient, cost effective manufacturing processes.

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:



  • Reviewing lead times, current inventory levels and MRP forecasts to determine supply requirements
  • Building approvals with adequate support information (application, justifications and bids)
  • Work wih vendors on bids, palcing purchase orders, managing deliveries and cost reductions
  • Work with Accounting to ensure the use of proper account codes and tax status with all purchase orders
  • Working with Accounts Payable to correct payment issues
  • Understanding and covering (as needed) the purchasing resources responsibilities of setting up stock locations, updating Bill of Materials for Production and Maintenance
  • Understanding and covering (as needed) the inventory and receiving responsibilities handled by Purchasing Resources or Tool Cage Attendant
  • Evaluating existing inventory and projecting future needs to ensure adequate inventory and to prevent overstocking
  • Creating requisitions when determined to be necessary
  • Assisting with the bidding process
  • Receiving, issuing or applying of material to jobs or work orders
  • Working in other various purchasing functions as needed
  • Assisting in other accounting related functions
  • Any other duties and responsibilities as required to support the business needs


  • As Purchasing Specialist you will have all the responsibilities of the purchasing specialist and coordinator but work more independently in most aspects of procurement for the products you are supporting with less daily oversight.
  • The Purchasing Specialist role is a not a supervisory role but expectations of the role will be to support and help develop the junior members of the team such as Inventory and Receiving Coordinators.
  • Work with the Purchasing Manager and Director of Purchasing to improve, develop and formalize standard departmental procedures.


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Four year degree in Business Management, Finance or Accounting or 2 + years progressive experience in purchasing or experience with a maintenance warehouse in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to team and collaborate with co-workers from various disciplines.
  • Excellent computer skills with ability to use all Microsoft Office products and ERP system. Syteline experience a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented with ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Proven experience in decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Daily and occasional overnight travel will be required
