Accounting Manager (GL & Technical Accounting)
Fort Worth, TX - hybrid, 3 days onsite

One of Vaco's clients, a global midmarket supply chain company, is looking to onboard an Accounting Manager to oversee a mixed bag of day-to-day items including GL accounting, consolidations, financial reporting and technical accounting (accounting research, rolling out new items to the team, etc.)

This is a highly-visible role that will interface with executives and be the "right hand" to the Controller. Looking for folks that can pivot between big picture strategy to understanding them minutiae of how a business operates ("can I recognize this type of revenue, etc.")

Compensation: $130-140K + Bonus

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the implementation of new accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 326).
  • Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions such as revenue recognition, equity, debt instruments, business combinations, and leases.
  • Prepare and maintain technical accounting memos and white papers to support positions taken.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Partner with FP&A, Legal, and other departments to evaluate the accounting implications of new contracts and business initiatives.
  • Support the preparation of external financial statements, footnote disclosures, and audit schedules.
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of internal and external audits.
  • Mentor and develop staff accountants and senior accountants.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support the implementation of systems and automation initiatives.
  • Monitor updates from the FASB, SEC, and other regulatory bodies to ensure continued compliance.

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA certification required.
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in technical accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
  • Experience with financial reporting and audit support.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
