Job Title: Facilities Engineer

Location: Richmond, VA

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a Facilities Engineer who will be responsible for design, review and implementation of new processes or improvements in the operations or construction of the manufacturing and related facilities. Also responsible for material and labor costs analysis, setting procedures and standards, and reviewing construction bids. Accountable for plan, design, and oversight of facility reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of facility equipment.

What you will be responsible for in this role:

  • Understanding project specifications and developing time schedules and budgets that meet them.
  • Negotiating with vendors and contractors to secure the best prices.
  • Monitoring and tracking project progress.
  • Communicating with managers, supervisors, and contractors regarding project status and operational impacts.
  • Analyzing technical drawings and providing material and cost estimates.
  • Ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budgets.
    Observing existing processes, analyzing staff performance, and addressing deficiencies accordingly.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Evaluates capital equipment investments, prepares cost justifications and manages the overall implementations of capital equipment projects.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Conduct make-vs-buy analysis of components of the existing product.
    Support the general Manufacturing Engineering department as needed

What are the basic qualifications?

  • (4) year degree is required; a degree in an Engineering discipline is preferred
  • 5 years of experience in facilities engineering
  • 3 years engineering experience in an industrial factory environment.
  • Experience interacting with local officials concerning permitting process

To be a great fit for the role:

  • Budget management experience.
  • Ability to work with others on a team to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, maintain detailed and accurate records, and prepare clear and concise written reports.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles and techniques to the solution of equipment, buildings and infrastructure.
  • Vendor management experience.
  • Familiarity with regulations and building codes.
  • Ability to prepare engineering specifications, statements of work, and estimates for a wide range of facility related projects is a plus.
  • CAD experience
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
    Lean and Six Sigma manufacturing expertise.
