Microsoft is researching the future of Quantum Computing, including theory, hardware, and software. As a part of this effort the Quantum Mechanical Engineering team is developing cryogenic refrigerator architecture to enable the advancement of Quantum Computing. We are on the cusp of an accelerated effort in quantum computing and this position is an opportunity to get in at the start of this new intense phase. We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Cryogenic Mechanical Engineer to lead and support the installation, integration, commissioning, and operation of various cryogenic systems, particularly within quantum computing applications. The ideal candidate must possess exceptional troubleshooting abilities, a solid understanding of vacuum technology, and practical experience in process instrumentation and control systems. ResponsibilitiesMaintenance, installation, commissioning, upgrading and operation of several helium cryoplants and related infrastructure. Provide expert-level troubleshooting of cryogenic systems, including instrumentation faults, vacuum failures, and control logic anomalies. Lead the commissioning of cryoplants and cryostats, including system calibration, leak checking, and vacuum pumping procedures. Execute and organize preventive, planned and reactive maintenance strategies for cryoplants and support equipment. Maintain high-performance vacuum systems, identify and repair leaks Ensure performance and reliability of Cryogenic Equipment.Other:Embody our Culture and Values |
