The Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute (SSIHI) is a part of UCI Health and the Susan & Henry College of Health Sciences. The Samueli Institute is working to transform healthcare through the practice of integrative health by conducting rigorous research, promoting evidence-informed treatment modalities, educating the public, providing individualized, patient-centered clinical care, and providing services to the community that focus on obtaining optimal health.


Your Role on the Team

We are looking for a motivated Health and Wellness Coach with Culinary Education Specialties to join the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute. Using skills as a seasoned, experienced culinary and health education professional, with a full understanding of industry practices and campus policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues, demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions, uses advanced food services concepts in overseeing food preparation, menus, nutritional needs, and sanitation, exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results for patient care and health management. Must have National Board Certification in Health and Wellness Coaching.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Thorough knowledge of the health promotion and education field.
  • Thorough knowledge of the design and delivery of related programs.
  • Skills associated with both the development and delivery of health education programs and culinary services.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills needed to interact with a diverse client group.
  • Strong writing and communication skills required, including marketing materials, menus and social media.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and respond to client needs.
  • Knowledge of integrative Treatment modalities
  • Oversees compliance of food prep to QA standards and safety / security related to handling and preparation of food.
  • Develops recipes, testing and evaluation.
  • Hosts and leads Nutrition Classes.
  • Assisting the Executive Chef with educational cooking classes.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Master's Degree in related area
  • National Board Certification in Health and Wellness Coaching.
  • Minimum one year in a clinical or health related and culinary setting.

Special Conditions:

  • May need to work occasional weeknights and weekends.
  • Some occasional local travel for educational outreach events and work-related events.
