From your PASSION to ours The RSPC Assistant Manager is responsible for ensuring the department is running smoothly and in a safe and productive way. Under the Direction of the RSPC Department Manager, the RSPC Assistant Manager will implement policies and procedures and make recommendations for improvements in the manufacturing process and equipment and operations procedures. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, training of employees, production planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, and coaching employees for improvement. Work closely with employees, supervisors, and report back any issues to the RSPC Department Manager. Manage receiving, pasteurization and separation processes in accordance with regulatory requirements, and interact with inspectors as the needed. Ensure that all production quality standards are met. Organize scheduling of staff and ensuring that all trainings are completed. Assist in ordering of milk to meet the needs of the various production departments and organize the fulfilment of cream sold to outside customers. Preparation of reports, training documents and SOPs as needed. Communicate clearly with the RSPC manager and cheese plant director as well as interacting well with the production departmental leadership on site. From your EXPERTISE to ours Key responsibilities for this position include: * Perform department production status checks daily. Manage inventory control and CIP's, in order to keep the plant supplied with ingredients while staying within regulations . Work with RSPC manager in scheduling production in a manner which maximizes the departments production capability while meeting the needs of the plant . Review of raw material indicators to understand well the financial impact of the various production process and reduce losses of fat and protein. . Key contributor of the ISO 22000 implementation. Ensure the sustainability of the food safety programs in his department Assist the Department Manager to enhance the technical and financial performance of the department. * Responsible for directing adjustments of the manufacturing process to maintain conformance of standards, specifications, and customer requirements. * Responsible for maintaining all GMP and regulatory requirements. * Helps to maintain compliance with workplace and government mandated standards (FDA, USDA, OSHA, etc.). * Responsible for a variety of reports to include volume, yields, quality, productivity, and efficiency. * Works with Production planners to plan weekly schedules. * Builds weekly employee schedules and plans, manages vacations for both hourly and supervisor reports. * Participates in budget and capex process and provides data as needed. * Responsible for Control of department supply budget. * May be required to collaborate with outside vendors. * Participate in weekly staff meetings. * Lead weekly maintenance/production meetings. * Work with other department managers as needed to ensure total plant success. Requirements From your STORY to ours Qualified applicants will contribute the following: Education * Bachelor's degree in food science or Dairy or equivalent in experience * 5 years of job-related experience. Experience * Milk Receiving, Pasteurization Separation and Membrane Technology Experience . 3 - 4 years dairy and/or supervisor experience preferred . Dairy processing equipment and membrane technology, operating systems in Microsoft Office, basic knowledge in algebra and geometry . HTST and sampling licenses preferred; dairy and/or supervisor/management experience. Specialized Knowledge * OSHA, Food Safety, FDA, and USDA. * Knowledge of ISO and certifications within the food industry. * Computer and Systems (Microsoft Word and Excel). Skills / Abilities * Effective and Proficient communicator, written and verbal. * Good problem solving and analysis skills. * Ability to manage time efficiently and organizational skills. * Effectively manage people. Physical Requirements * The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or hot humid conditions, extreme heat, and confined spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Must have attention to detail and accuracy in work; ability to work well with others; strong written and verbal communication skills; and able to analyze, read, and write reports, manuals, and procedures. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and sit. The employee is frequently required to walk and occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear. |
