We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Data Scientist II on our Marketing & Membership Experience team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.

This position will maintain target
audience scoring and segmentation models for marketing activation. Participate
in the development and application of machine learning and other data science
tools for new opportunities. Collaborate with other Data Scientists to develop,
design, and deploy new and modernized capabilities using data within MMX.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support Targeted Marketing

  • Identify and design custom segments to prioritize and target for future marketing activities to support both group and individual lines of business
  • Collaborate with broader Marketing team and other interested parties to execute all aspects of the process, including identification of target audience & sizing, A/B test design, test cell allocation, campaign set-up, data quality checks, and post campaign analysis
  • Create performance metrics and tracking processes to measure the effectiveness of customer segmentation efforts
  • Develop and maintain a campaign summary dashboard of key performance metrics to track results of previous and ongoing campaigns

Model and Analytics Development

  • Conduct statistical analysis from data drawn from the AMA data warehouse, digital data repositories, and related data from other sources using statistical methods such as clustering and segmentation techniques, regression, algorithms and propensity modeling
  • Develop machine learning models, using a variety of methodologies as required and develop and maintain new metrics, attributes, and measures in pursuit of model development
  • Create, automate, and maintain reports and visualizations for business stakeholders.
  • Enhance and improve existing systems for data capture and analysis

Data Automation and Process

  • Streamline data ingestion, interpretation, and transformation from various stakeholders for use in team-wide modeling efforts
  • Leverage deep understanding of all database systems and data relationships including digital data repositories (i.e., Google Analytics, AMS, etc.), AMA Physician Master File, AMA Data Warehouse, and other disparate sources.
  • Serve as technical resource to business and IT teams requiring analytic insights and project development

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's degree required; in Data Science Statistics, Computer
    Science, Engineering, or a related required
  2. Preferred Graduate/ Master's Degree
  3. 3+ Years experience experience data
    science and analytics working with statistical tools and concepts, relational
    database architecture and experimental design required.
  4. Proficiency with SQL; knowledge of R or Python and related statistical
    packages required.
  5. Proficiency in data visualization packages, Power BI is preferred.
  6. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, ability to
    hypothesize and test against the hypothesis.
  7. Polished written and verbal communication skills including
    communication of technical and statistical concepts to business audiences.
  8. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work based on changing business
    needs and relevant timelines, including completion of tasks requiring inputs
    from colleagues across the AMA.
  9. Experience in providing recommendations to management and stakeholders
    to optimize analytic approaches. Experience in providing consultation to
    customers to leverage analytic findings.
  10. Able to communicate technical and/or complicated processes to
    non-technical staff.
  11. Additional Required Technical Background:
  12. Familiar with statistical analysis techniques, such as chi-squared
    test, t-test, ANOVA, regression analysis, sampling design, and time series;
    able to draw findings from statistical analysis results.
  13. Experience with machine learning techniques including but not limited
    to deep learning / neural networks, decision trees, random forests, gradient
    boosting, naive Bayes, linear and logistic regression.
  14. Experience with data analysis tools and techniques, such as Python, R,
    SAS, SPSS required.
  15. Programming experience - ability to write sophisticated machine
    learning and data analysis code in Python, R or Java required.
  16. Experience with SQL in the extraction and manipulation of datasets;
    general knowledge of transactional data processing, ETL, data warehouse, data
    mart, and operational reporting solutions, a plus.
  17. Experience and interest in presenting analytic findings to business
    customers. Familiar with reporting and visualization tools, such as Tableau,
    Power BI, Business Objects, etc.

This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $83,722-$110,711. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration, geographical location, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
