Responsibilities
Summary: The Unit Manager is responsible for direction and supervision of Mental Health Case Managers and Certified Peer Specialists. The Unit Manager will also provide supervision of the application on the Evidence Based Practices (EBPs) to the licensed mental health clinicians. Additionally, providing maximum unit coordination, resident supervision and safety, and preparation of records and reports. Assists in day-to-day unit operations as needed. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Unit Manager provides guidance and promotes an atmosphere conducive to personal and professional achievement, progress and advancement among staff.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures pertaining to all phases of the custody, administration, classification and program status of our residents under the guidance of the Clinical Program Director.
- The Unit Manager may work with the classification of (Intakes and or Discharges) as needed in the units.
- Along with the security operations team, ensuring the safety of operations and clinical personnel.
- The Unit Manager is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of training for classification personnel.
- Reviews and evaluates classification department policies and procedures to ensure that they are pertinent, applicable and effective, and comply with corporate, facility and ACA requirements, guidelines and standards.
- The Unit Manager may counsel residents including responding to their requests and problems and refers them to appropriate facility services.
- May facilitate groups that are offered appropriate for the individual's assessed needs such as Life Skills, Money Management, Criminal Thinking, Stress and Anger Management, Dual Recovery, Life Practices, Healthy Relationships, etc.
- The Unit Manager performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related in Human Services or Criminal Justice administration and four (4) years of experience in mental health in a correctional setting OR Masters Degree with two (2) years of experience in Human Services or Criminal Justice field in mental health preferably within a correctional setting.
- One (1) to two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Clinical or mental health supervisory experience is preferred.
- Ability to enforce rules and regulations with firmness.
- Demonstrate tact and impartiality.
- Exercise sound judgment in emergency situations; and to supervise and direct the work of others.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
