Job Summary:

Responsible for supporting accurate and timely payroll processing across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with federal and state labor laws, and maintaining payroll-related accounting records.

This role is ideal for individuals with a degree in accounting or a related field who are eager to learn and grow within payroll and accounting functions. Prior payroll experience is not required, but a willingness to learn and a sound work ethic are essential.

Main Responsibilities

* Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
* Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
* Process multi-state payroll accurately and on schedule, ensuring compliance with applicable labor regulations
* Collaborate with HR and operations/project management teams to gather, verify, and input payroll data
* Review and validate employee payroll records, including benefits deductions, garnishments, and tax information prior to payroll processing
* Support payroll compliance reporting and audits, including unemployment insurance audits and regulatory reviews
* Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a professional and timely manner
* Provide support for system implementations, testing, and upgrades as needed
* Assist in maintaining payroll-related general ledger accounts and performing reconciliations
* Assist with the preparation and filing of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports and taxes
* Submit certified payroll reports to the appropriate state agencies in accordance with regulatory requirements
* Monitor and reconcile employee benefit accruals and deductions against the benefits tracking worksheet to ensure accuracy and completeness
* Assist with interim and year-end audits and support year-end W-2 process to ensure accuracy and timeliness
* Perform other tasks and projects as assigned to support payroll and accounting functions

Education:

* Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience) required
* Valid Driver's License and clean driving history

Skills:

* Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Programs (Word, Outlook, Excel)
* Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
* High attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage confidential information with integrity
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
* Ability and desire to expand knowledge and grow within the accounting function
* Preferred: 2+ years of payroll or general accounting experience in a construction or similar complex, multi-state environment (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
* Preferred: Experience with JD Edwards (JDE) or similar ERP systems

Physical Requirements:

* Most work performed in an office environment, quiet to moderate noise level
* Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 25 pounds
* Sitting for long periods (up to 8 hours or more) at a desk using a computer; with intermittent breaks
* Occasionally required to stand and walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; visiting work sites may require walking over uneven terrain and some exposure to dust, chemicals and loud noise typical of industrial/construction sites
* Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
* Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) in order to convey and understand information
* Regularly required to perform tasks requiring visual acuity including reviewing electronic and hard-copy data/reports and other visual information
* Some travel with overnight stays away from home may be required
