Grady Health System is seeking a passionate and innovative AI/ML Engineer to join our growing data science team. This is a unique opportunity to apply cutting-edge artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to improve patient outcomes, streamline operations, and support one of the largest public health systems in the U.S.

As an AI/ML Engineer at Grady, you'll help shape the future of healthcare by building intelligent systems that drive real-world impact-from predictive analytics in emergency care to optimizing clinical workflows and enhancing population health initiatives.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with clinical, operational, and technical teams to identify opportunities for AI/ML solutions that address key healthcare challenges.
  • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models using frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch.
  • Clean, preprocess, and transform large healthcare datasets to ensure quality and relevance.
  • Select and apply appropriate ML techniques (e.g., supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning) based on project needs.
  • Optimize models for performance, scalability, and accuracy in real-world healthcare environments.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate models into Grady's systems and applications.
  • Stay current with emerging AI/ML technologies and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Deploy and manage models in AWS and Azure cloud environments.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and ensure robust model monitoring and governance.

What You Bring

Required:

  • A Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, engineering, physical sciences, mathematics, or a closely related STEM field, or equivalent experience demonstrating applied expertise in machine learning or data-driven systems development is required.
  • A Master's or doctoral degree in data science, computer science, statistics, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or related discipline, particularly with demonstrated research or professional experience in machine learning, artificial intelligence, or computational modeling is preferred.
  • Three years of experience in software engineering, AI engineering, or similar field
  • Demonstrated expertise in machine learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, data mining, AI, or a related technical field3+ years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML development, or related technical roles.
  • Two years of experience in the healthcare industry is preferred

* Fluency in multiple programming languages and statistical analysis tools, such as Python, C++, JavaScript, R, SAS, Excel, SQL, MATLAB, SPSS

* Proficiency in machine learning algorithms such as multi-class classifications, decision trees, support vector machines and deep learning

* Strong understanding of probability and statistical models (generative and descriptive models)

* Ability to run experiments scientifically and analyze results

* Experience with business intelligence tools and technologies such as ETL, Power BI, and Tableau

* Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and results to technical and business audiences in a comprehensive manner

* Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders, including analytics teams, development teams, product management, and operations

* Ability to work independently and in a fully remote environment

* Willingness and ability to stay up to date on new ML/AI technologies and their potential impact on the company

* Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job

Preferred:

  • Strong ability to teach and communicate machine learning model methodologies and findings
