SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking a Data Engineer Intermediate to join our team. This full time role will work days. The position is remote, however the ability to come on campus periodically is desired.

Purpose of this position: Under general supervision, the Data Engineer Intermediate role performs transformations of data to fulfill the needs of the organization. They will combine data from multiple source systems to produce the
solution required. They will develop, optimize, and support architecture to enable the full lifecycle of
business intelligence development for teams within the organization. Their solutions are expected to be
optimized to support the health of the data environment. They are expected to select the appropriate tool,
depending on the expected result of the solution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Gather business requirements to ensure the needs are met of the requestor
  • Follow and inform query standards and practices
  • Develop, support, and optimize advanced data structures, including cubes, data marts, SSIS packages, and data warehouse objects
  • Develop reporting and data extracts for use by business customers
  • Develop data extracts that follow business user expectations
  • Utilize enterprise reporting and data manipulation tools including, but not limited to SSIS
  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL Code, with considerations to optimization and future supportability
  • Collaboration with requestors on an advised tool set for the solution, as well as data quality and validation to ensure accurate results
  • Follow and maintain documentation of internal and delivered solutions
  • Receive, analyze, and resolve incidents from the service desk
  • Create knowledgebase articles for recurring incidents
  • Exhibit responsibility and accountability towards quality completion of projects and consistently hitting project timelines
  • Provide higher level support within the team and to related teams for resolving issues
  • Monitor data quality and validation metrics in data environments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Three years of relevant experience
  • Associates of Arts (AA) or Bachelor's degree

  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Data Warehouse development in a hospital or healthcare environment extracting data
  • Experience with Epic Cogito data infrastructure
  • Advanced development experience with reporting tools, such as Crystal Reports and Microsoft Visual Studio (specific to SQL Server Integration Services)
  • An Advanced level of SQL programming skills (IE. Oracle, Microsoft, or similar syntax)
  • An advanced level of data warehouse development experience using the Microsoft BI toolset or similar
  • Training or experience specific to data warehousing (i.e. Kimball Dimensional Data Modeling)


Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:



  • Ability to work through the development process from request, design, implementation, to testing and maintenance with limited guidance
  • Developing analytical, quantitative, problem solving, and critical thinking skills to assess reporting and data modeling needs
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer service skills following proper business requirements and managerial expectations
  • Growing comfort working in a large, dynamic, and complex technical and operational environment
  • Time management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of relational and/or star schema database structure, tables, views, and stored procedures
  • Knowledge of data quality and validation
