General Statement of Responsibilities:

Boynton Health (BH) at the University of Minnesota (U of M) seeks an experienced professional to serve as the Senior Assistant to Associate Vice President of Health and Wellbeing, Executive Director of Boynton Health. Boynton Health provides comprehensive health care services, programs, and outreach to advance student educational success, health and wellbeing.

Services under Boynton Health include primary care, urgent care, mental health therapy, psychiatry, counseling, public health including health promotion, student health benefits, pharmacy, eye clinic, physical therapy and dentistry. Boynton Health serves over 30,000 students and staff annually through over 100,000 visits. It is one of the largest student health centers nationwide.

Detailed Job Responsibilities:

Administration and Leadership (50%)

  • Provide and supervise direct admin support to the Associate Vice President in managing their leadership responsibilities and commitments to ensure achievement of Boynton Health business objectives and strategic initiatives. Lead and participate in major projects and initiatives that support the mission of Boynton Health, as assigned by the AVP. Serve as a member of the BH executive leadership team.
  • Provide oversight and leadership of Boynton strategic initiatives and manage projects as assigned.
  • Represent the AVP as appropriate to keep informed about student affairs and relevant Twin Cities and University-wide activities. Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with peers and colleagues throughout the University in order to exchange or convey information and foster strategic partnerships.
  • Assist with preparation of key U wide committees that are co-chaired by the AVP such as MN-WINS and the adoption of the Okanagan Charter.
  • Regularly analyze, research, and monitor critical issues on behalf of the AVP, brief them on related developments, and prepare appropriate action items or responses.
  • Organize and coordinate the annual organizational workplan with the BH leadership team and gather info for outcomes. Prepare reports and briefs as needed.
  • Prepare and disseminate the organizational dashboard, while benchmarking best practices in student health and wellbeing.
  • Lead the project management and organization of the employee recognition program and staff events.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications to develop presentations, fact sheets and key internal communications methods for BH leaders. Assure updates and revisions to the intranet and brief the BH leadership team.
  • Advise and develop the Executive Director and BH Leadership policies and procedures via the Exec Committee to assure that BH Leadership meets AAAHC accreditation standards for governance and supports organizational effectiveness.
  • Keep BH Leadership informed on relevant policies and procedures, and brief the Exec on new developments occurring in various functional areas or University-level initiatives and activities.
  • Support the BH Leadership team in responding to unexpected situations and crisis management issues as they arise.
  • Collaborate with BH leadership team, UMF and other to develop fundraising proposals and other case statements. Assist in completing foundation and funder reports as needed.
  • Lead strategic projects and/or delegate management of the student services fees, ACHA data reporting and other projects as assigned.

Management and supervision: (50%)

  • Oversee marketing, communications and public relations efforts for Boynton Health, Human Resources and Compliance functions at Boynton Health.
  • Oversee workplans, measures and outcomes for these areas.
  • Oversee data collection efforts and annual reporting to ACHA.
  • Oversee and supervise other BH central office staff.
  • Coordinate BH Exec and leadership team meetings, retreats and other events, including agenda development.
  • Coordinate the all-staff meetings, including agenda development.

Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Note: The BH team delivers and oversees activities, events, and programs that are provided both during and outside normal business hours; therefore, the senior assistant to position will need to work evenings and weekends when needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree and a minimum of eight years of relevant executive level professional experience
  • Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Experience managing multiple, competing priorities within a complex, fast paced office environment
  • Supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and working with faculty, staff and students from marginalized communities.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative, consultative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • Previous experience as a chief of staff or senior level administrative director providing professional support to an executive leader
  • Previous experience in human resources and/or change management
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism, tact, diplomacy, good judgment and adhere to a strict requirement of confidentiality
  • Experience in preparing complex charts, tables, graphs, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Ability to work under pressure with accuracy, set priorities, meet deadlines, handle interruptions, work on own initiative, solve problems, and make timely decisions
  • Experience working within a higher education and/or healthcare environment and/or the University of Minnesota.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $120,000 - 125,000 depending on education/qualifications/experience.

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
