IT - Enterprise Analytics
Job Summary Having significant experience, applies advanced data / information management concepts and campus / medical center / OP objectives to resolve highly complex issues where analyses of situations, information or data require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Selects methods and techniques to obtain desired results.
Specifically, the Senior Data Analyst will work with EIA (Enterprise Information Analytics), data governance staff, business analysts, end users, and data owners to: * Collaborate with the Enterprise and technical team and other stakeholders to understand data needs. * Design, develop and deliver efficient and standards-based high-quality analytics solutions. * Translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations to influence strategy and decision making. * Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor key business metrics, track progress against strategic objectives, and inform senior leadership. * Oversee of the design and implementation of Analytic solutions including data acquisition process design, use of BI technology features and functions, business rules processing, and data aggregation and summarization techniques * Lead the tuning and performance improvement of Tableau BI solutions. * Participates in data governance process as defined by department / organization. * Collaborate with data modelers and data integration architects / developers to establish end-to-end data and information delivery architecture. * Analyze, Design, Develop and implement ETL workflows using tools such as SQL, DataStage, SSIS, etc., * Leverage expertise in Epic systems to extract, manipulate, and analyze data to drive process improvements and strategy development. * Serve as an escalation to resolve complex technical issues in collaboration with staff and provide updates to leadership and business partners. * Champion and educate business and IT staffing on the use of the BI technologies for strategic and tactical decision making with use of data to support recommendations / decisions. * Perform deep analysis of complex data sets, identify trends, and develop visualizations to present data in a clear and compelling manner. * Ensure data integrity and accuracy, troubleshoot data anomalies, and work to continuously improve data quality. * Provide technical expertise in data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing. * Lead and participate in dissemination of best practice and process, including outcomes at various internal / external venues. * Research and stay abreast of the latest trends in BI technologies and work with vendors to carry out product evaluations and proof-of-concepts.
The Enterprise Information and Analytics Health Operations team operates to stay abreast of current and emerging data management technologies and trends and advice on how they can be used to support business and technology objectives. The Senior Data Analyst will analyze and create information assets for their business domain, especially those supported and prioritized by the Transplant Domain's strategic plan and this resource will have a focus that includes but is not limited to the UCSF Transplant domain. The successful candidate will have leadership skills, be customers focused and have extensive experience in developing enterprise data solutions. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $143,900 - $215,800 (Annual Rate). The Enterprise Analytics Information - Health Operations department functions as the liaison between the customer or partners in the organization and technical resources to provide optimal analytic solutions to solve problems, answer questions, and meet the needs of our customers. Key partners include clinical, financial, administration, and campus domains. The team is involved in strategic and operational activities to both inform and drive change in behaviors and ultimately outcomes through the use of data and information. The team operates in a cross-functional manner, crossing domains to implement integrated work as needed.
The University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Department of Information Technology is seeking a qualified individual to lead the design, analysis, presentation and dissemination of data, information, and knowledge critical to the performance of UCSF enterprise-wide.
Enterprise Information Analytics' vision is advancing UCSF's ability to care, heal, teach, and discover by providing ubiquitous access to relevant and high-quality information and analytics. We do this by working with our clinical, research, education, and business customers to organize, integrate, and govern UCSF's information assets and then develop targeted data sets and analyses that provide important insights.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- 8+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing secure, scalable, and high-performance BI and analytic solutions; at least 3-5 years of experience as a Tableau Developer or other BI tool
- 5 years of experience in advanced skills associated with software specification, design, modification, implementation, and deployment of large-scale scope.
- 3 years of experience with dimensional data modeling and relational databases
- 3 years of experience in SQL and relational databases
- Ability to communicate with high proficiency, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and staff, in both technical language and business terms.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, influencing, collaboration, and negotiation skills
- Proficient in developing technical specifications, presentations, training materials, user documentation, and technical documentation.
- Demonstrated success with overseeing software development lifecycle for enterprise-wide BI projects and ability to assess and solve complex technical problems
- Demonstrated ability to understand domain needs and how systems can support those needs. Demonstrated ability to develop conversion and system implementation plans.
- Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop and effective solutions.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage time and organize competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Epic Clarity Certification
- Epic Phoenix Module Certification
- 2 years of experience in BI and analytics in healthcare
- Ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation.
- Experience with BI and analytic tools such as Python, R, etc.
- Experience in the analysis, design, development, and implementation of ETL workflows using tools such as SQL, DataStage, SSIS, etc.,
- Experience in developing technical staff
- Excellent project leadership and management skills.
- BI and analytics in Education and Research
- Proficient in Agile/Scrum development methodology
- Experience creating and maintaining data visualization standards
- Experience with predictive/prescriptive analytics and precision medicine
