Senior Research Lab Technician, Part time 20 Hours

Works independently in research involving modern biological techniques to investigate SALL4 function in normal and cancer cells. Coordinates cell culture needs for the lab and conducts experiments such as cellular assays, PCR, qRT-PCR, Western blotting and co-immunoprecipitation in accordance with established guidelines., transcribes and records data using statistics and computational biology platforms. Performs literature searches and coordinates supply ordering for the lab. Manages technical training of incoming lab members, maintenance of lab reagents and ordering, organization of detailed compound inventory. Designs, optimizes, and implements standard lab protocols for Primary Investigator.
1.Independently performs routine and non-routine biological experiments. Experimental techniques may include: RNA, protein extractions; gel electrophoresis; blotting and hybridization techniques; cell fixation and basic immunohistochemistry; and cell transfection/infection.
2.Cell culture techniques, including isolation of primary cell cultures from animal and human tissues.
3.Preparation of laboratory reagents and apparatus.
4.Records, organizes and analyzes data derived from experiments. Presents data to fellow lab members, manager, and principal investigator in a regular and timely fashion. Assists in preparing presentations and written articles for publication.
5.Process data derived from transcriptional profiling and genomics technologies.
6.Directly supervises the training of incoming Research Assistants and students, coordinates lab orientation and techniques with new fellows.
7.Designs, implements, and evaluates recruitment strategies for collaborators and study participants.
8.Responsible for overseeing the data collection process. Ensures integrity of patient data.
9.Implements and maintains quality assurance procedures and systems.
10.Implements inventory system for storage and organization of compound inventory for drug-screening efforts.
11.Plans, designs and performs statistical analyses.
12.In collaboration with PI, develops and implements new research protocols including design data collection systems, and institutional review board approval. Responsible for writing new grants. In collaboration with PI, prepares and may present certain portions of presentations, in addition to preparing articles for publication.
13.Takes an active role in authorship of new publications, helps with the design and generation of experiments for figures/
14.Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education
Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required
