Target hiring range for this position will be between $19.89-$24.86 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Job Summary:

Dr. Rinad Beidas' team in the Department of Medical Social Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is seeking a Research Study Coordinator to assist our team with our diverse research portfolio focused on closing gaps between what is known and what is done ("know-do gaps") in healthcare delivery - also know as implementation science. Specifically, this position will work on a project focused on implementation of the collaborative care model for mental health treatment in primary care settings.

The Research Study Coordinator will be responsible for various day-to-day operations for this project, including overseeing participant recruitment; conducting qualitative interviews; maintaining qualitative and quantitative research data; assisting with IRB documentation and compliance; conducting literature reviews; and assisting with communication to all investigators, research partners, and study participants. The study coordinator will support the study team and vested partners by scheduling meetings and providing meeting minutes in a timely manner. They may also supervise part-time staff and undergraduate research assistants on the team. As such, the Research Study Coordinator must have impeccable organization, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills as well as strong attention to details. All applicants must be able to demonstrate familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and web-based applications. Working knowledge of REDCap is encouraged. This position would be ideal for individuals looking to pursue an MA/PhD in Clinical Psychology, public health, or another related discipline; planning to attend medical school in the future; or interested in pursuing a career as research staff (e.g., becoming a project manager in the future).

Coordinates collection, analysis, processing & reporting of data & assists Principal Investigator (PI) and team in regard to biomedical &/or social-behavioral research study(ies) of limited complexity involving co-investigators, multiple campuses &/or universities. Completes all activities by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) & all relevant current local, state, & federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy & procedure developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), & the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH).

This is a hybrid work position, and the Research Study Coordinator will be expected to work in the office at least three days per week, as the rest of Dr. Beidas' team does.

Please note: Supervisor provides objectives, deadlines, and specific instructions only for new, difficult, and/or unusual work. Work is reviewed upon completion and only occasionally to verify technical accuracy and compliance with practice, policy, and procedures. Coordinator informs supervisor of on-going progress and/or potentially controversial matters.

Specific Responsibilities:

Technical

  • Participates in the planning & conduct of research study including participant recruitment and retention.
  • Obtains informed consent.
  • Administers tests and/or questionnaires following protocols.
  • Administers qualitative interviews and contributes to qualitative analyses.
  • Collects, compiles, tabulates & processes responses.
  • Gathers information.
  • Extracts & analyzes data from medical charts.

Administration

  • Collects, records, reviews & summarizes research data.
  • Collates relevant mathematical results & prepares tables, charts & graphs reflecting relationships of multiple tests.
  • Prepares reports for investigators and sponsors on recruitment status and other pertinent study data.
  • Completes documents associated with current local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws & research protocols.

Finance

  • May process payments for research participants per study protocol.
  • Coordinates reimbursements for travel, consultant pay, gift card orders, etc., & ensures costs remain within allotted grant budget.

Supervision

  • May provide work direction and/or train other research staff to interview/test participants.
  • May act as a mentor in regard to education of junior coordinators.

Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 2 years' research study or other relevant experience required; OR
  • Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years.

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • Strong organizational, written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and web-based applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of research experience, such as experience with: participant recruitment and enrollment, quantitative and/or qualitative data collection, qualitative coding and analyses, coordinating with various members of a study team (e.g., research staff and investigators), maintaining qualitative and/or quantitative research data, or assisting with IRB documentation and compliance.

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • Knowledge about and/or experience with implementation research.
