Senior Accountant (Payroll) Addison, TX - 4 days onsite (work from home during close) One of Vaco's longstanding clients is looking for a Senior Accountant focused on payroll to join their team. This role will have the most interaction with the payroll team and be responsible for administering all the incentives - sales commissions, bonuses, statistics around FTEs/metrics, payroll/PTO accrual analysis. Compensation: $80-95K Key Responsibilities: Perform detailed payroll accrual journal entries, including salaries, bonuses, commissions, and PTO (paid time off) accruals, on a monthly and quarterly basis. Reconcile payroll-related GL accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries. Prepare and process monthly/bi-weekly payroll inputs related to sales commissions, incentive bonuses, and other variable compensation, ensuring compliance with company policy and applicable laws. Collaborate with HR, Sales, and Finance teams to validate commission and bonus data, and maintain auditable documentation. Analyze and maintain FTE counts and trends, producing statistical reports for leadership and Finance business partners. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Participate in month-end and year-end close activities related to payroll and labor costs. Contribute to process improvements and documentation of payroll accounting procedures and controls. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3+ years of payroll accounting experience, preferably in a commission-based or bonus-heavy compensation environment. Solid understanding of GAAP and payroll-related accounting principles. Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, UKG) and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle). Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, PivotTables, formulas) and experience working with large data sets.
