Your Impact
You will undertake conflict of interest (COI) checks on new engagements submitted across the global firm, with a particular focus on the Life Sciences sector.
This team plays a crucial role in advising firm leadership on managing conflicts of interest throughout the client engagement lifecycle, including client selection and work scope management. The mission of the Ethics & Compliance (E&C) function is to protect our firm while enabling impact by supporting colleagues to lead with integrity.
In this role, you will carry out conflict of interest checks in the firm's conflicts database on clients and any involved parties identified on each new engagement. You will perform research on entities using both internal and external sources, with a focus on the unique regulatory and competitive landscape of the Life Sciences sector. Your responsibilities will include identifying, clearing, and, where appropriate, elevating conflicts issues, along with providing recommendations on how to address them.
You will have the autonomy to run robust conflicts of interest checks and analyze data independently, making determinations without oversight while exercising sound judgment to know when to seek advice and counsel from colleagues. Specifically, you will conduct conflict of interest search strategies, discount false positives from conflict reports, and undertake focused research using internal and external sources, with a particular emphasis on Life Sciences clients, competitors, and regulatory bodies. You will lead conflicts of interest discussions, advising partners on managing potential conflicts in client engagements to ensure alignment with both firm policies and the complex regulatory requirements of the Life Sciences sector. Additionally, you will develop briefing materials, coordinate discussions with Risk, Legal, and other firm colleagues on engagements, and brief findings to partners and senior colleagues, conveying judgments and providing actionable recommendations to mitigate risks.
In this role, you will also lead and mentor a team of compliance professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. You will develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance the firm's compliance framework, particularly in the Life Sciences sector, and provide thought leadership by staying abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices, sharing insights with the team and the broader firm. Furthermore, you will drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and leverage technology in compliance operations.
In addition to your core responsibilities, you will contribute to raising awareness of conflicts of interest policies and compliance processes, particularly as they pertain to the Life Sciences sector. You will also engage in global initiatives, such as policy reviews, as part of our broader E&C mission.
This role requires a deep understanding of the Life Sciences sector, including its regulatory environment, competitive dynamics, and client sensitivities.
