Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Sr. Buyer to be based out of our New Bedford, MA (Duchaine) facility. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, this person will be responsible for driving the advancement of supply chain processes and the daily activities of our material replenishment systems to meet customer demands. This role will lead the tactical efforts towards the achievement of the Strategic Plan objectives, with a strong emphasis on cost reduction.

What you'll do:



  • Creating purchase orders and facilitating all changes and expediting; reconciling pending invoices and updating master file records as needed.
  • Takes ownership and actively maintains proper order processing, inclusive of DOA, GL accuracy, and data entry.
  • Participates in strategic sourcing decisions to achieve corporate goals and objectives.
  • Act as liaison between commodity vendors, sales departments, demand planning, scheduling, and various operational departments to ensure timely delivery of quality products.
  • Implement procurement best practices such as Economic Order Quantities and Just In Time material deliveries when necessary
  • Facilitate meetings between company and vendor representatives to ensure open communication for all issues, including quality, delivery, and cost when necessary.
  • Participate in Kaizen and TPI events to support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives.
  • Ability to work with all departments, including Quality, Logistics, Finance, and Manufacturing, to obtain the best pricing, quality, service, and delivery.
  • Manages Ad hoc projects and reports to support the development and implementation of MRP systems; manages the databases associated with the procurement modules.



      What you'll bring:



      • A bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field.
      • Must have 5+ years of experience working in Operations, Manufacturing, or Supply Chain management.
      • Must have 1-3 years of experience working with metal fabrication and/or purchasing.
      • Experience working in lean manufacturing is preferred.
      • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel, Experience with JDE/Oracle strongly preferred.
      • Excellent written and communication skills, the ability to write procedures, good training skills.

      Within 3 months, you'll:



      • Complete your new hire "Immersion" so that you are ready to rock in your new role.
      • Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.
      • Have learned our systems and procedures.


      Within 6 months, you'll:



      • Understand the business well enough to own and drive operational activities with minimal internal support.
      • Maintain and be accountable for KPI reporting while actively participating in Lean Daily Management activities.
      • Have assumed ownership of targeted locations and are accountable for performance expectations.


      Within 12 months, you'll:



      • Manage the onboarding of greenfield sites.
      • Own and maintain master data for assigned locations.
      • Be developing and driving best practices and demonstrating an ability to get results through influencing others.

      As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $81,520 - $112,090. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
