Come join TFE, Inc. as a Sample Prep Technician supporting the ARS Laboratory in Port Allen, Louisiana.

The ARS Laboratory specializes in full-service laboratory capabilities, including radiochemistry, standard chemistry, industrial hygiene, and other specialty services. Our Port Allen, LA, laboratory performs a full complement of analytical services, including VOCs, metals, and radionuclides for approximately 50,000 samples annually.

Summary

The Sample Prep Technician works in concert with the Sample Receiving Tech in the receipt, tracking, preparation, storage and disposal of laboratory samples.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Assists in receiving shipments from carriers and clients.
  2. Tracks samples received by the laboratory via our LIMS system.
  3. Performs pre-analytical sample preparation.
  4. Brings samples to appropriate locations throughout the lab.
  5. Keeps sample-prep area clean and organized.
Requirements

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Skills/Abilities

  1. Moderate computer skills (Excel and LIMS database)
  2. Strong attention to detail
  3. Strong organizational skills

Special Requirements

  1. Valid state driver's license
  2. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, sit, bend at the knees and waist, and climb stairs.

Ability to lift 50 pounds independently.

Ability to utilize all physical senses in the workplace.

Ability to wear PPE including safety glasses, chemical protective clothing, and respiratory protection.

Employees may be required to participate in the laboratory spill response program including maintaining HAZWOPER certifications.

Ability to participate in occupational related medical surveillance programs as necessary: respiratory protection, beryllium, lead, HAZWOPER.
